any problem seeding from CD-ROM/DVD?
I archive the bigger downloaded torrent content to cd-rom / dvd along with the .torrent files for ID in order to free up hdd space on the laptop.

Using uTorrent 2.0.4 or otherwise, any issues/problems with seeding a torrent from the files saved to cd-rom/dvd? For example does the drive delay spinning up screw with the tracker / the downloader's s/w by causing repeat data requests to be sent - or something else e.g. related to the files on disc being read-only? I set the files location in uTorrent and did a forced recheck on them which completed OK although the check takes longer of course.

well not exactly. your on disk cache will pick up alot of it if you have a few gigs of memory it will get plonked in there also.

You will effectively save it to your computer but now and again after the first few hours the disk will probs start to spin down.
I wouldnt suggest it but if you are that short on space.......well you know what to do. big gig disks is cheap these days man.

I wasn't even aware you could seed from Soft-Disk! That's nuts!

Thanks for that. So it's all systems go!
(The laptop is a micro Sony Vaio with a smaller-form-factor-than-2.5" hdd and also not removeable without disassembling the machine. Hdd about 65gb excluding restore partition but congested and likes lots of swap). External hdd a possibility to pursue.

There is not going to be an issue as long as you have saved it in your DVD. The next time you want to resume a download or do the seeding, make sure that you insert the DVD drive. However, make note that it could cause problems to the DVD. I suggest you use a pen drive!

It's a laptop? Forget it, these internal drives are not built for more than an occasional spin. They break all the time.
