RE: Still Need help with Uploading a Torrent
Hi, I think you've picked up on an old post of mine. When trying again last week to upload a torrent, I used the announce as http://concen.org/announce as shown on your upload page. I related my steps to another uploader who confirmed I was doing it correctly. I think it may have
something to do with being a Mac user or I'm a complete idiot. |

RE: Still Need help with Uploading a Torrent
Yeti - These are the steps I took, piece by piece:
Created a Folder "Uploaded Torrents" and placed the avi file in to folder, Created New Torrent by selecting the source (being the avi file in Uploaded Torrents folder - titled Farah_Yurdozu_Title_01_01.avi) Typed in http://concen.org/announce in the Trackers section Piece Size - shows Auto detect Unticked 'start seeding', Ticked 'Private Torrent' Created and Saved as - Farah Yurdozu (and saved in the Uploaded Torrents folder with the avi file) Then went into Concen Upload Torrent Torrent File - Selected the torrent I had just made (Farah Yurdozu) Torrent Name - Farah Yurdozu (2008) Category - Video: Generic Video Description - Gave a short description of the video Uploaded File Deleted my torrent I had made (Farah Yurdozu) Downloaded Torrent file from Concen (I hit the 'download now' on the page where I was taken to after uploading and not from the main where one usually downloads the torrents) and placed into the Uploaded Torrents folder. The file appeared on Concen for about 2 minutes, with no seeder, then file disappeared. Checked utorrent which said DHT - not allowed, Local Peer Discover - not allowed, Peer Exchange - not allowed http://concen.org/announce?pass - working. |

RE: Still Need help with Uploading a Torrent
Not sure what you mean about a hash check. I download the torrent and then I just check that it has appeared on the Concen home page which it does, but has no seeds. Is there something I should be doing after the download then? Then, when I look on utorrent, it is not downloading as there are no seeds.

Then, when I look on utorrent, it is not downloading as there are no seeds. When you download a torrent which has data you already have, and you tell your client to download it to the same location, it will detect that you have the data locally, and do a hash check to compare it with the data you want to download. This usually takes a few seconds at least and sometimes over a minute depending on the size of the data. If you are found to have all the data, then your client will start seeding. The fact that you are not seeing this means you are not telling your client to save the data to the right location.

One thing you'll want to do is to set utorrent so that it ALWAYS asks you where you want to save the data. That way you can make sure it's in the right place. Also keep in mind that if the data is a directory, DO NOT save to the same directory as the data - save it to the directory the directory is in. You can try to redownload a torrent you already have fully downloaded, to see that utorrent picks up that you already have it so it starts seeding...

RE: Still Need help with Uploading a Torrent
Yep, this is where you went wrong:
Quote:Downloaded Torrent file from Concen (I hit the 'download now' on the page where I was taken to after uploading and not from the main where one usually downloads the torrents) and placed into the Uploaded Torrents folder. When you clicked "Download Now" you should have opened it with uTorrent (you instead saved it), and then point uTorrent to your file. Once you then click okay, uTorrent checks the file against the .torrent you just opened and then starts seeding. Also, ensure you enter a description ![]() geogaddi00 put a good guide up last week, that may help in future: Creating and Seeding a Torrent Using uTorrent "He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked." -- 1 John 2:6

This is the interrelated structure of reality." -- Martin Luther King Jr. "He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him." -- Proverbs 18:13 "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself." -- Leo Tolstoy "To love is to be vulnerable" -- C.S Lewis The Kingdom of God is within you! -- Luke 17:20-21 https://duckduckgo.com/ |

Hi Yeti
Thanks for your help - have just managed successfully to upload my second torrent. I tried a different program and it worked without a problem, so unsure why utorrent didn't work. Thanks again.
