RE: Political Hip Hop & Rap
DJ Craze is that dude...I used to watch dude win all those Turtablist Championships back in the day. Dude had some real creative skills on the 1s n 2s. Totally inspired me to be a more hands on DJ when I used to rock parties back in the 90s. I could out scratch anyone in my area back then cuz of guys like him and Qbert(I used to think that dude was an alien, lol he was just so freaky good)

RE: Political Hip Hop & Rap
No, I didn't... what the hell are you talking about? You must be hallucinating...
(did I say that "shit" thing out loud?) I have this tendency to float between genres for months at a time, sometimes years, so I might put some stuff out there that's been around a while... sometimes I'll search to make sure it's not here, but mostly I just go with what I feel. I'm a bigger fan of Gillespe than Mingus, but a bigger fan of Mingus than I am of Armstrong, and a bigger fan of Hancock than Mingus... but nina did her own thing and I love that too... And I'd rather listen to a high-quality boot of Sly and the Family stone than any of the above. The fusion of beat, + unique rhythmic elements and melody light me up... especially under syncopation. ...so that leaves me in a strange light to appreciate hip-hop... I yearn for more levels in the sound-wall most of the time. y'all have great taste... I'm glad I found this place.

From the new KRS-One disc:

I have a hard time believing that KRS one will sell as an optimist. Cool track though.
edit: the second track is more what I've come to expect.

I really miss summers @ prospect park - they have great shows all the time. Enjoy yourself!
(I though Kweli was part of the Roots... Why is he getting separate billing?)

RE: Political Hip Hop & Rap
That's sick SiLVa. Unfortunately where I love in Canada, big hip-hop concerts are few and far between. Kweli and The Roots are two of my favourites. Enjoy man!
And as far as I know h3rm35 Kweli is not part of The Roots, but he is part of Black Star with Mos Def, and of course Reflection Eternal with DJ Hi-Tek. Here's another one from the latest Reflection Eternal album... <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Bjsn9ifTwMg&hl=en_US&fs=1?rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Bjsn9ifTwMg&hl=en_US&fs=1?rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> |
