My Favorite Dystopian Story (Movie and Book)
Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451
Trailer (you might find the whole thing among the related videos) Set in the future, Fahrenheit 451 depicts a society where books have been banned, where feelings have been repressed, where emotions have been stripped away, where being different is a crime. Highly recommended and much better than stories by illuminati members because if you look close enough you will understand why the situation is as it is. It's happening in your own world while you're reading the book. First they burn one heretic, then another, then his information. Our problems pile up while at the same time being artificially removed in various ways by the local authorities. Not to the benefit of anyone, of course, but we don't know how to change the situation. The most painful and difficult thing to do is to change one's mind - and the first reaction from the people we try to change screams and acts of violence. "How dare you make me feel the pain that's involved in thinking?" they say inside their minds. "If I had to change my mind it would already be on the news, and it would be rather obvious in my groups." |
