I wish there were more car buffs to speak up here...I know the "truthers" tend to be dominated by a lot of "vegan-greenies" but surely the rest of you don't bike to work?

Diversity sucks! GO HOME!

Maybe they're too old. Smile
We drove the Z, possibly the fastest car Ive ever been in. The turbo is so freakin fun, followed by the sound of the blow off valve <3
As for the two tone, we might paint the body kit black to match.

Well at least now I know why Ctrl was so bitchy so many months ago, my psychology tells me he was fucking stressed out thinking about all the work ahead on his TVR. Now the TVR is almost done and Ctrl is HAPPY HAPPY! I was thinking that maybe he was getting like Jordan Maxwell and maybe the zionist's were making his life miserable. I am feeling your accomplished vibe Ctrl. Gotta hand it to you! You did a fucking wonderful job on that TVR man!

In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

As a reputed atheist, the reverential nature of his film was surprising, but Pasolini himself said &If you know that I am an unbeliever, then you know me better than I do myself. I may be an unbeliever, but I am an unbeliever who has a nostalgia for a belief.&

Don't buy a Lancer OZ. You're just going to wish you had an evo the whole time you own it. You can't even put over 225 tires on it without rolling the fenders.

Get a used evo8 instead. They're going for under 15k now. '05 8's have a stronger tcase like the 9 and a better limited slip front diff than the older ones.

RE: The un-official car thread of 2010
Hell yeah now that's a car. I wish I could afford an evo, but even 15 grand is too much for me (I don't do payments/interest). The oz is like 5 grand, looks nice, but really weak. It's a low speed performance car. I think I might go for the volvo s60 t5, they are pretty strong. I wonder if the oz has LSD, although it is front wheel drive.

Soon to come from the 350z, a drifting video, and a video of us topping it out on the highway. Wish us luck from the popos and safety. We are expecting 170/180 mph, or we might just stop when we max the gauge. It is stupid fast, we peeled out while we were already moving like at 40 mph and almost spun out.

RE: The un-official car thread of 2010
I forgot I actually put a new clutch and flywheel in last summer.

ACD prolite 1 piece steel flywheel 11pounds
Competition Clutch stage 3 kevlar clutch kit.

There's so many other cars out there. I wouldn't have a lancer OZ on my list anywhere. I'd take a k20 civic first. The lancer gets by on the Evo's rep. It's an econobox that has nothing in common with the evo except the basic saftey cage and interior shape. Evo has different fenders, doors, hood, roof, front bumper, rear bumper, frame re-enforcement, suspension, seats, trim, and a completely different drivetrain. The SE's and SE/MR's have aluminum roofs as well. All evo's have aluminum front fenders and hood.

If you want most of what an evo has but not the cost find an older used AWD turbo eclipse/talon/laser (DSM). Only problem is they're so old now most have been beat to death and ghetto modded into oblivion.

Yeah I was looking at the 3000gt vr4 (awd), but those are still expensive in my area too. There is the rarer mirage vr4 that someone was selling, but they are too old now. I think my 96 is too old, no way I'm getting a 91 mirage. I love the Nissan 300zx but those too are old and pricey.

RE: The un-official car thread of 2010
If you buy the right year Mirage you can make an evo 4-6 out of it. Many people have. Some of the parts on the evo 8 work for the mirage conversion. I know the seats do. Check out this thread.

This dude got a 98 mirage for $900 with a banged up front end and started the conversion. Unfortunately he's not done but if you search many have done this. There's a 2 door mirage/evo conversion in a recent import tuner mag.
http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-show-sh...5-tme.html

At that time the lancer wasn't sold in the US and the US mirage was the base for the older evos that weren't sold here.

Do some research on the 3000gt. They aren't worth it. Too many reliability issues. Too many extras that break, (all wheel steering, active aero) The trannies are crap. They are also too heavy. The older VR4's tip the scales at 3,800 pounds curb weight. They really don't handle very well with all that weight. About all they are is good looking. Hard to soup up a twin turbo compared to a single. The stock drivetrain is too weak to take much souping up without replacing everything. Evo's are good to about 450-500whp on stock drivetrains.

For some reference on the 3000gt look here.

There's a lot of cars out there.

Here's a stock 8 for 11K in Wisconsin with 91,000

1998 eagle talon tsi AWD turbo $3,000

1995 talon tsi $4,100

1995 talon $2,800

Good luck.

I'm not big on American cars. I'll just see how much I can save up before university starts, hopefully I'll be able to afford an evo haha. Thanks for the links.

RE: The un-official car thread of 2010
The eagle talon is not an American car. hehe Neither is the plymouth laser.

It's 100% AWD turbo mitsubishi eclipse with a couple of different trim pieces. They just seem to be easier to find and for less money than the turbo eclipses. They are no different. Most eclipses I found were normally aspirated. The eclipse was made longer with more optional models and most of the later models have the crap v6 and N/A 2.4. You want the 4g63t 2.0. in the GSX.

There's a lot of cars that aren't what they seem.

The Dodge stealth is actually a mitsu 3000gt.

They're not owned by GM? The engine in the eclipse and the eagle are the same?

Oh ok I did some research. Nice, I never knew about these, always assumed them to be crappy American cars haha. I'll look into them more thanks for the new info.

RE: The un-official car thread of 2010
When I was a young lad once I was hanging out with a friend and got roped into going with them to the Jeep/Eagle dealership because his mom had to have her car, which was some POS, worked on there.

We were waiting for a really long time. I don't know if they were really busy or what but we were there for hours. My buddy and I were browsing all the cars in the lot. Nothing much really exciting at the Jeep/Eagle dealer except this one car with the center position on the lot.

They had just came out. The new Eagle Talon and it looked mean. AWD turbo 16 valve written on the side, big bulge on the hood. We circled that car for hours. I guess the salesman felt sorry for us or something, maybe he thought my friends mom was hot. He invited us all for a test drive.

Two kids pile in the back and mom in the front. This guy drives the car like he fucking stole the thing. He was taking 90 degree standard block corners at 60mph in a 4 wheel drift, over 100mph in a 50mph semi residential area. Thinking back this guy had to have some sort of racing experience. He was talking about the car the whole time of course. I think it took a week to wipe the smile off our faces. He even took use out in the FWD model and rode it hard to show us the differences. To this day I've never ridden in a car and been so impressed. I wanted one for years. If I bought one I wouldn't want one that salesman had driven. He was a freakin wild man.

They are basically the same drivetrain as the evo. With the evo though you get the newest version with all the updates and changes they've made to that same 4g63 awd setup over 15 years to make it better. The evo comes with a pretty heavy engine build from the factory. You can get 450+hp out of the stock block. You can't really do that in a talon/eclipse. You'll have to build the bottom end. The transfer case, transmission, drivelines, differentials are better and more heavy duty in the evo, especially the 05 VIII and IX's.

The eclipse/talon/laser cars are referred to collectively as (DSM's) for Diamond Star Motors. It was a company formed by mitsu and some others to build these cars.

The aftermarket is very very healthy for the DSM's. The mods go on forever. It's ridiculous. Lots of tricks. They're fairly cheap to fix up. People have just as fast of DSM's as anyone's evo when you talk custom built stuff. DSM's are actually faster at drag racing because they're generally lighter with the same power potential.

RE: The un-official car thread of 2010
Yeah I was reading the wiki, found out that only the gsx and tsi awd models use the 4g63t which I also found out was the evo engine. I'm starting to like it a lot. Upgrade the turbo, fuel injectors, and you get instant power. Enjoyed reading your story, never been in an awd drift yet Smile
