Hon. Carolyn Bennett, MP Calls For the Resignation of Borys Wrzesnewskyj as Associate Critic for Foreign Affairs

The Hon. Dr. Carolyn Bennett, MP for St. Paul's, is deeply concerned by the remarks of her caucus colleague, Etobicoke-Centre MP Borys Wrzesnewskyj. In the Ottawa Citizen (August 21), Mr. Borys Wrzesnewskyj, MP for Etobicoke-Centre, was quoted as saying that he would support having Hezbollah taken off of Canada’s list of terrorist organizations and in the Toronto Star (August 21), Mr. Wrzesnewskyj was quoted as describing Israel’s actions during the recent conflict as “state terrorism”.

Dr. Bennett welcomes Mr. Wrzesnewskyj’s subsequent public statement in which he clarified that he believes that Hezbollah should continue to be listed as a terrorist organization. However, Dr. Bennett is very troubled to note that Mr. Wrzesnewskyj did not retract his comments regarding Israel’s conduct during the conflict.

So this MP of ours is being forced to resign because he expressed a slightly different opinion on the Israeli-Hezbolllah conflict. What a joke. So much for freedom of opinion and speech.

Conservative MP Jason Kenney said Tuesday that Hezbollah is no different than the German Nazi party in the 1930s and, by visiting Lebanon, opposition MPs lent “political legitimacy” to the organization.

Speaking at a news conference to react to comments made by Liberal MP Borys Wrzesnewskyj about taking Hezbollah off Canada’s list of terrorist organizations, Kenney said lessons need to be learned from history.

“There was another political party in the past which had democratic support, which provided social services, which played an important role in the political life of its country in Germany in the 1930s which was also dedicated to violence against the Jewish people,” said Kenney, parliamentary secretary to Prime Minister Stephen Harper and one of the Conservatives’ senior political strategists.

He was the VP of B'nai Brith Canada and he was calling for anyone who supports Hezbullah (even in heart, not actions) to be charged with a hate crime.

THAT is the sort of thing that is gradually turning me anti-semetic. The more of this crap that goes on, the harder it becomes for me to distinguish between jews and zionists.

I hear you. I'm tired of feeling like I have to keep my mouth shut about the truth. Be careful man, I think that is what they want. I (would like) to think that most Jews can see that B'nai Brith is nothing more than an arm of the government of Israel, and we all know who is really behind that.

I know, I listen to George Galloway's show "Sportstalk" and he was talking about how the demonstrations against Israel's war had a lot of Jews in them and the callers who were pro-israel kept undermining...The problem is Zionists don't want the real Jews to be heard, these guys want Israel dismantled more than anyone. Especially that the Orthodox Jews see zionism as blasphemy because they believe that they can only go back when God tells them to go there when their Messaiah arrives and not through human intervention. Plus zionists want to link Judiaism with zionism, even though zionism is a political movement and Judiaism is a religion.
