Converting DivX5 back to Dvd's

Can Nero do this ?
Are codecs needed?
Is there an easier way?
Thanks

you can import the divx in a video editing software like premiere with proper D1 settings, rescale it to this format and then output mpa and mpv. Then, in a DVD authoring software like DVDlab you can make your disc with menus, etc.

If you watch it on a computer it is actually not worth the effort, it is better to leave the divx as it is. If you want to hand out a very important film as a DVD, it is better to buy or download the whole DVD and copy it. Transferring divx to DVD needs a lot of time of encoding and work, and there are many possibilities of errors. I only made this three or four times, now I hand out DVD's with divx on them.

I'm pretty sure nero does this every time I burn a DVD for somebody. If you select "make a DVD video" from the quick launch anything you burn gets converted first.

It does take a long time. Martial Law takes over 2 hrs to re-encode. I have a new core2 duo and 2 gigs of DDR800 in the mail to fix that.

I always thought that I had to convert it to DVD for it to play in most DVD players. Yeah I know that some will play a divx file but not all and most of my friends have a day after thanksgiving $29.99 DVD player that won't even work with some generic brand disks. So I always convert everything I have to DVD if I'm giving it out.

I never got errors until recently but I think it's because my burner is failing. I got a new one in the mail and I probably got more than 1,000 disks out of it so that wasn't bad for a $30 lite-on.

yes many new players are divx compatable, makes it much easier so if you are buying one make sure it is. even take a couple of discs and try it out. :ok:

... but yeah, for the case you have to convert cause your player doesn't play divx or when you want DVD or VCD to make sure it is compatible for everyone then you might want to try DIKO

it's a nice GUI someone has made for a whole bunch of free commandline apps.
It's really easy to use and does most stuff with just a few clicks and has many presets and feature including subtitling

more help and other tools at the last 2 sites above and at http://www.doom9.org

it does take a while to do, 2 passes are better too so it's a good overnight job - hope this helps ya

I find VSO software
http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/ is the best one i tried, fast no sound errors and not too much of a resource hogger. Crack for it is on the usual sites.
Other than that nerovision express, but i have had sound issues with that sometimes
