Disinformation Page Request
I've been looking on the forum for a disinformation awareness page but there doesn't seem to be one.

I think this would be of benefit to both members and guests alike for obvious reasons.

I would like to request that there be one created in the forum.

Who would I have to go through to make this request?

If this isn't possible then where would I be able to post disinformation related topics?

Kind Regards

Druid.

Thanks for that.

Also at the risk of sounding extremely stupid. What do you mean by flame war?

I haven't come across this term before.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flame_war

"Flaming is the act of sending or posting messages that are deliberately hostile and insulting, usually in the social context of a discussion board on the Internet. Such messages are called flames, and are sometimes posted in response to flamebait."

"A flame war is a series of flaming messages in electronic discussion groups such as usenet, mailing lists or internet forums. There are a number of characteristics of electronic communication which have been cited as being conducive to flame wars. Electronic communications do not easily transmit facial expressions or voice intonations which may serve to moderate the tone of a message. (However, some users may add on smileys (e.g.;)) to lessen the sting of a negative post, or to clarify the meaning behind a post.) Also, there is typically a lag time between the time a message is transmitted and the time a reply is read. These two characteristics can cause a "positive feedback loop" in which the emotional intensity of an electronic exchange increases to extremely high levels. Many times, the intent of a message is misunderstood, causing an unintentional flame war. These tend to escalate and worsen very quickly, sometimes causing the topic in which the reply is submitted to be closed, or "locked.""

Its basically internet lingo for fights amongst posters involving "flaming" or insulting one another. There isn't a disinfo page because there would be too much opinion and not really any fact. For instance I would call Noam Chompsky and DBS disinformation, but a lot of people would disagree with me. Others would probably call Alex Jones disinfo and there would be huge fights started over it. You'll find that some people admire the work of these people and calling it disinfo in itself is highly insulting to them.

No offense, but I doubt anything constructive would come out of a disinformation forum.

No offence taken.

I to believe that Noam Chomski is a CIA disinformation agent.

This is exactly my point.

Some people do not know this and I think they should, at the risk of ruffling feathers. Something that isn't really that important in the grand scheme of things.

Plus debate is healthy as one can learn from another in such exchanges.

If its a bad idea then fair enough but to just dismiss it is kind of a defeatist stance to take.

You could write a blog about it. That function is being grossly underused as it is :/

Really though we would run out of topics pretty fast. Only so many people you can label disinfo agents. I doubt we would half-fill the first page of the forum. It's probably best just to post in the forum that the disinfo agent spreads disinfo about. Like a few posts about Chompsky have already been posted in off-topic and politics I think.

Thats fine.

I have thought about this for a few hours and i've come to a similar conclusion.

Thanks for not being assholes about my request. It was an impulsive decision on my part.

I love this forum and feel that there are many good, honest people taking part with much to share.

I hope things don't change.

Druid.
