These photos - taken less than two weeks ago as Britney left a New York hotel with her locks tied back - show how badly damaged her hair had become prior to her dramatic head shave. The pop tart may have become so frustrated with her extensions that she cut them off in order to start a new head of hair from scratch.

According to Emily Wynne-Hughes, who was in the parlor, when Britney dramatically ran the shears through her hair, "She [Britney] just said she was tired of having things (hair extensions) plugged into her. She said she was tired of people touching her. It seemed like she was kind of sick of it all, whatever it all is. She was very scatter-brained and upset. I think she wanted to be left alone."

Britney was distraught when she shaved her head off. Everyone assumes she shaved her head off because she was distraught when it could well be that she was distraught because she had to shave her head off?

The star reportedly became aware of her hair problem while she was partying in Las Vegas. She was spotted entering a salon at the Palms hotel and casino in Las Vegas at the end of January, according to reports. Inside staffers found her hair was so badly damaged from repeated dye jobs, bleaching and extensions that it had broken off and thinned to the point "where bald spots had begun to appear," an inside source claimed.

Damn, the pitfalls of fame is REAL shit! I know so many Top notch artist that don't want the fame (just the money). Because their are so many that are broke but famous or weren't ready for it and it wasn't what they expected. She got enough money, if she was smart she would jump out of that shit and raise her kids.

I think Britney is a product of, TOO YOUNG, TOO DUMB, AND TOO RICH TO KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT. And also being pimped out by her HUBBIE wigger FEEDERLOINS. Britney Spears' disturbed mental state may have worsened with reports of an attempted suicide and other bizarre behaviour while in rehab.

Tabloid newspapers have reported Spears as claiming to be "the Antichrist", writing 666 on her shaved head, and running uncontrolled through the Promises Clinic in Malibu.

Troubled Britney Spears is reported to have tried to commit suicide by hanging herself with a sheet.

It's claimed the mum of two also wrote 666 on her bare scalp and ran around Promises clinic in Malibu, California, shouting, 'I am the Antichrist!'

'She attached a sheet to a light and tied it around her neck,' a source tells The News Of The World. 'Paramedics were called, but luckily she was unhurt.'

Britney is said to be touched by the kindness estranged husband Kevin Federline (see video) is showing towards her now she's getting professional help and wants to have another baby with him.

The couple have two sons, Sean Preston, one, and Jayden James, five months.

'She has been talking to Kevin every night for hours on the phone, telling him she still loves him,' says the source. 'She just wants to be with him again.'

It as been alleged Britney's unpredictable behaviour has been caused by 'crystal meth', a drug Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie was once hooked on.
