An Msm Dick Cheney Propaganda Experiment
An MSM Dick Cheney Propaganda Experiment

According to the mainstream, I have put together an interesting little timeline to demonstrate how suggestive (and diverse) the mainstream media can be. I am focusing on Dick Cheney's reported activity over the past several days for this experiment and I have added commentary. Besides, the man's had an interesting past couple days. Apparently he made a "secret" trip to Pakistan and Afghanistan early this week. Apparently he had planned to visit both places in the same day but snowfall caused him to postpone Afghanistan and just visited Pakistan on the 26th (Monday). The trip was only "secret" for security reasons, I'm sure you understand. I will sort the article links by the times they were posted (who reported first).

First note, all the mainstream media parrots the same thing and floods the 'net with it's redundancy. Try searching for something a little more inportant and you'll find it won't quite have ten million search results. Also, all the different titles and slightly different spin based on the particular audience that media target really amuse me. It's the exact same story. Why do we need ten thousand companies reporting on it?

Cheney asks Pakistan to counter al-Qaida
Quote:ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Underscoring growing alarm in the West at how militants have regained ground in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Vice President Dick Cheney on Monday sought Pakistani aid to help counter al-Qaida's efforts to regroup, officials said.

Look how Rueters and Associated Press carried virtually the exact same article, but one referred to "terrorists" as al-Qaida while the other referred to them as the taliban. Notice how AP presents it as simply one man, Cheney, politely "asking" for cooperation, and how Reuters portrays it as the whole U.S. "strongly" suggesting cooperation. It's all in the word play folks. The AP article really made it sound like Cheney was pleading for help from Pakistan, while the Reuters article totally made it out to sound like Cheney went in there and heaped the whole US's demands on them to do it. The Reuters article made no mention at all of sending more US troops there, simply, they made it seem like we were simply paying them a visit to remind them to get their asses in gear, and the article was suggestive that they would beusing their own troops to do it by mentioning how many soldiers they have lost. However, the AP article made reference to 9/11 and to how many US and NATO troops are there. Read them both, they're quite different.

Cheney Asks Pakistan to Counter al-Qaida
Quote:ISLAMABAD, Pakistan Underscoring growing alarm in the West at how militants have regained ground in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Vice President Dick Cheney on Monday sought Pakistani aid to help counter al-Qaida's efforts to regroup, officials said. However, President Gen. Pervez Musharraf insisted his forces have already "done the maximum" possible against extremists in their territory and insisted that other allies also shoulder responsibility in the U.S.-led war on terrorism.

Look at how spammed Monday is. I was able to find a couple videos that aired on ABC and BBC but finding text articles about what happened on Tuesday proved a little difficult. I swear I was only able to find one report on Tuesday, if anyone can find a report dated Tuesday please post it, but it looks like story wasn't carried much on the 27th. The story started carrying Wednesday and I still see it popping up now Thursday. Many reports carried are now saying "The US knew the attack was going to happen", so I speculate that a couple medias are waiting to pen up the perfect article about it or something while others just crammed their rough draft through and went home.

NATO: Bomb threat existed before Cheney visit
Quote:KABUL, Afghanistan Intelligence reports indicated that the Taliban had the ability to carry out suicide attacks near the main U.S. base in Afghanistan even before a bloody bombing during a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney, NATO said Wednesday. Col. Tom Collins, the top spokesman for NATO’s force in Afghanistan, said suicide bomb cells were present in the capital, Kabul, just 30 miles south of Bagram Air Base. We know for a fact that there has been recent intelligence to suggest that there was the threat of a bombing in the Bagram area, Collins told reporters. It’s clear that there are suicide bomber cells operating in this country. There are some in the city of Kabul.

Taliban says it targeted Cheney
Quote:Officials doubt the militants knew he was secretly at an Afghan air base. Two Americans are among the dead in bombing. WASHINGTON: U.S. and Afghan officials are investigating whether Taliban fighters who have claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing Tuesday at Bagram air base were tipped off that Vice President Dick Cheney was visiting there. Cheney, who was staying a mile from where the bomb exploded, was not injured in the attack at the gate of the sprawling base. A U.S. soldier and a South Korean soldier were among those killed. Reports of the death toll varied, with the U.S. military saying nine people died and the Afghan government reporting 23 dead and 24 injured. An American contractor also was reported killed.

My Summary:

Bush woke up Monday morning and decided (he is the decider, you know) that "the United States" (and he decides for the whole country) needed to send an unusually tough message to the leaders of Afghanistan and Pakistan, warning them that they could cut aid unless their forces were far more aggressive in hunting down operatives with al-Qaeda (and/or Taliban, does it really matter, TERRORISTS!). They immediately pack their bitch Dick Cheney onto a plane and ship him out to go play the role of mafia reminder. Hey, someone's gotta keep these puppet governments in check!

Dick arrives in Pakistan in what seemed record time, briefly meets with Pervez Musharraf then sticks around till Tuesday because of the snow. Tuesday he goes to meet Hamid Karzai but before the meeting at a US military base, someone bombs the entrance to it, killing a lot of people, Cheney not being one of them. He makes his visit, chats with Hamid Karzai, poses for his photo op handshake and scoots to come back to Washington and tell his story.

When you actually watch these guys it looks like hollywood.

The interesting truth to this is that what's really going on is more American troops are being sent into Afghanistan and Pakistan to help THEM with this situation. The last time I checked the statistics, approx. 3,600 "coalition" troops had been killed for about 650,000 national citizens there. Do the math. If the US wants to send 1,000 more troops then they are likely expecting the deaths of another 180,000 residents of that region, so when the US says they want to send 20,000 more troops you better forsee another holocaust in the works, ecspecially if "no end is in sight" for this "war on terror". Imagine a quarter of a million foreigners came into your land and killed more than a million of you and your people spread out over five years. I think I would probably die trying to get my revenge.

Don't believe they're sending more troops to Afghanistan as well as Iraq?

The British also announced sending more troops to Afghanistan:
