Help Needed, Off Topic Computer Related
quicktime/java ?
I can no longer watch utube or google videos, I have no idea why they no longer work, they used to work fine. My anti-virus software detected a trojan virus attached to a file not to long ago (WINDOWS\TEMP\ja.exe is Win32/Secdop.MT) I deleted it. Could this be the problem ? If so how do I fix it, layman's terms please ? Quicktime software is installed and updated, it appears to be fine. I get java script errors frequently, for example I can no longer use the edit button here on the forum or colored script when posting. Used to work fine, now says java script error, however java console pops up on lots of sites and I guess does whatever it's supposed to do properly. One last comment, unsure if it's related. Last time I revisited a different torrent site I tried to download 4 different files and each time a page came up that said - "object has been blocked", this too is a new occurrence since the trojan virus appeared. You're system might be damaged already. One possible solution(oh, how it pains me to say this)is to reinstall windows. I may be wrong on this, but this is most likely(obviously) a sure fix. Otherwise you could try running adaware and spybot as well as avg free edition(although I don't think this will fix the an already damaged system). I could be off track here but hey... I'm just throwing some options on the table for you. If anyone has anything better...all options are on the table(reminds me of something *wink*).

It worked fine before. Reinstall windows :barf::angry:- gee, I hope that there's a different fix. Won't I lose all my files doing this ?? Have you fully updated your antivirus and swept your entire PC?
Next, have you run updated checks of Spybot, AdAware and Hijackthis and checked your PC? If no viruses or spyware, have you tried reinstalling Macromedia Flash and/or IE? What happens if you use Firefox to view the site? If that works then the problem is likely IE or Explorer related. The trojan may be a deep type, embedding right into windows, a quick solution is the reinstallation of Windows, you should keep your OS on a separate disk so this is an easier process and won't affect your data. Or I've used the likes of Sysinternals Process Explorer to work out what trojan processes are actually causing the issue, they usually hook into winlogon.exe, explorer.exe or userinit.exe, but they can be a real pain to clean up. |

I did a system restore and it fixed the problem for my Opera browser, didn't help with IE however, still broken with that browser. Oh well, I like the opera better anyway.
