So My Isp Threatened Me For Illegal Downloading
Yeah it just happened today. Here is one of the letters I got:

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/6741/letter1xc9.jpg

and another one

http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/3586/letter2ve1.jpg

Anyone know what I should do? I can't quit downloading music, although movies I don't really give a damn about. I heard about peerguardian, not sure about it though because I don't know much about it.

I suggest you stop downloading movies and music for now. If you want to download music just go to your friends house and do it lol.

1. Cut down on public torrents
2. Find and use private trackers more often
3. Use PeerGuardian
4. Use less torrents, go with http downloads instead, ask me or someone else for these types of forums
5. Don't reply to those letters, that's admission of guilt

I don't see how when these people get on tv and talk like this that they don't just bust out laughing. I sure would, &phhheeh, sorry folks, haha, I can't read this anymore. If you have a wi-fi router make sure it is turned on.

Reply to them and state you don't know what the fuck they are talking about.

Keep downloading. Your connection gets cut, use another (nice way to get out of a contract if you have one).

At the end of the day they have to prove it was you downloading stuff, and if you have a wi-fi router they are basically bolloxed.

I had one a few years ago. Standard form when they get a complaint. You should use Protowall or Peerguardian. I use Protowall. Oh and check out the newsgroups for stuff. Used to be lots in the IRC channels but I haven't used that for a long time.

Can you isolate what the compaint was for and not use that source again?

Basically your ip address showed up and was noted by a investigator that goes on these P2P networks and compiles lists. Then the complaints go out to the ISP. Protowall filters a lot of obvious places that snoop.

Bullshit. Mac addresses are recorded.

This happened to me twice a long time ago on DC++.

Simple truth is you have to stop DLing MPAA and RIAA hawked shit from public trackers.

You will loose your internet if you continue and risk being sued.
