Police force ditches shirts and ties for black shirts
By DAVID WILKES - 29th May 2007 For decades, a white shirt and black clip- on tie has been part of a police officer's uniform. ![]() But the dangers of modern policing - which mean officers must wear body armour on patrol - have led one force to swop the traditional attire for something more practical. From next month all of West Mercia's bobbies will wear black zip-up tops when they are on the beat. The change is due to be introduced in a fortnight. It leaves the force, which covers Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire, open to criticism that its officers will resemble members of a paramilitary organisation. ![]() But West Mercia's chiefs say the traditional uniform had become "increasingly impractical". Constables had complained that the white shirts were restrictive and uncomfortable under their stabproof vests, which must be worn whenever they are on patrol. The new shirts are made from a breathable, lightweight fabric. They were chosen after 20 officers tested a variety of alternatives, rated them and assessed the public's response to seeing them without their usual outfits. West Mercia's Deputy Chief Constable, Ian Arundale, said: "When officers are not involved with frontline duties they will continue to wear the traditional white shirt and black tie. "The safety and comfort of our officers is paramount and the force is keen to ensure they are properly equipped to carry out their duties." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pagesve/arti...in_page_id=1770 |

All they need now is to take off their tit head hats
and put on a black army helmet, maybe sport a rambo knife. The police uniform is becomming ever easier to clone im sure they had that in mind too, I just bet they did. ~ Veritas Vos Liberabit ~ |

One must be comfortable and fashionable while kicking the shit out of an enviro-felon and supplanting general freedom.

Quote:What a nothing story!! Oh wait - it's from the Daily Mail - that'd explain it !!!To the mainstream sheeple it probably is a "nothing story", granted. But we should know better - and it is worth informing your "mainstream friends" about why this is happening. I understand them finding the traditional white shirts uncomfortable, but their statement is bullshit as I'm sure you could get the same shirt with this fancy material made in white. |
