Well that was cheerful wasn't it

Thanks for the link, I think in many of these events (thankfully) we won't realise what happened - we'll just be dead. The obvious exception being the volcanic eruption.

We lived in Idaho when Mt St Helens went off. Middle of the Day was like night and Ash coated everything. When we went to teh supermarket the shelves were empty. Except for the occcasional lone dented can.

WHat a sight that must have been. That is scary as hell. No wonder people worship volcanoes. St. Helen's in the overall scheme of things, was small compared to monsters like Tambora and Krakatoa. There is a huge caldera under Italy, Palermo I think. Yellowstone is the scariest one in N America I guess.

Mexico city has something like 7 active volcanoes surrounding it, including the monster Kokopapeketal
(spelling).

I read a good article in ANALOG magazine decades ago, where the author speculated on the hot
spot under Hawaii. He theorized that it was the engine core of a crashed ship. He gave some pretty good arguments as I recall. I ramble. Thanks.

PS Asteroid/Comet strikes would suck too. Hopefully the HAARP array(s) would deflect them. Yeah right.

Gnight.
