What If We Are Crashing The System?
I have more to share... I hope these excerpts might add some perspective to "The System" in relation to Toaism, Confucianism, and human spirituality. According to Alan Watts, they are actually one and the same... cohesive parts of a system of social engineering and personal freedom. The following is an excerpt from his book "The Way of Zen". I think in the following passage you will see an alternative to the western ideal of revolution, and how our spiritual impulses must addressed by "The System".
Quote:"The Way of Zen" , by Alan Watts (1957)Chapter One, The Philosophy of Tao "...Taoism must on no account be understood as a revolution against convention, although it has sometimes been used as a pretext for revolution. Taoism is a way of liberation, which never comes by means of revolution, since it is notorious that most revolutions establish worse tyrannies than they destroy. To be free from convention is not to spurn it, but to be not deceived by it. It is to be able to use it as an instrument, instead of being used by it. The West has no recognizable institution corresponding to Taoism because our Hebrew-Christian spiritual tradition identifies the Absolute-God with the moral and logical order of convention. This might almost be called a major cultural catastrophe, because it weighs the social order with excessive authority, inviting just those revolutions against religion and tradition which have been so characteristic of Western history. It is one thing to feel one self in conflict with socially sanctioned conventions, but quite another to feel at odds with the very root and ground of life, with the Absolute itself. The latter feeling nurtures a sense of guilt so preposterous that it must issue either in denying one's own nature or in rejecting God. Because the first of these alternatives is ultimately impossible, the second becomes inevitable. As is the nature of revolutions, the revolution against God gives place to the worst tyranny of the absolutist state - worse because it cannot forgive, and because it recognizes nothing outside the powers of its jurisdiction. For while the latter was theoretically true of God, his earthly representative the church was always prepared to admit that though the laws of God were immutable, no one could presume to name the limits of his mercy. When the throne of the Absolute is left vacant, the relative usurps it and commits the real idolatry, the real indignity against God - the absolutizing of a concept, a conventional abstraction... Of course, the very word "Absolute" suggests to us something abstract and conceptual, such as "Pure Being". Our very idea of "spirit" as opposed to "matter" seems to have more kinship with the abstract than the concrete. But with Taoism, as with other ways of liberation, the Absolute must never be confused with abstraction. For example, if we say that the Tao, as the ultimate Reality is called, is the "concrete" rather than the "abstract", this may lead to still further confusions. For we are accustomed to associate the concrete with the material, the physiological, the biological, and the "natural", as distinct from the supernatural. But from the Taoist standpoint, these are still terms for conventional knowledge. Biology and physiology, for example, are types of knowledge which represent the real world in terms of their own special abstract categories. They measure and classify that world in appropriate to the particular use they want to make of it, somewhat as a surveyor deals with earth in terms of acres, a contractor in terms of truckloads or tons, and a soil analyst in types and quantities of chemical structures. To say the concrete reality of the human organism is physiological is like saying that the earth is so many tons or acres. And to say that this reality is natural is accurate enough if we mean spontaneous, but it is quite inaccurate if we mean nature classified, sorted into "natures" as when asked "what is the nature of this thing?". It is in this sense of the word that we must think of "scientific naturalism", a doctrine which has very little in common with the nature of Taoism. Thus to beg to understand what Taoism is about, we must at least be prepared to admit the possibility of some view of the world other than the conventional, some knowledge other than the contents of the surface of our consciousness, which can only apprehend reality in the form of abstraction (or thought) at a time. There is no real difficulty in such an admission, for we will already admit that we "know" how to move ou hands, how to make a decision, or how to breath, even though we can hardly begin to explain how we do it in words. We know how to do just because we just do it! Taoism is an extension of this kind of knowledge, an extension which gives us a very different view of ourselves from that to which we are conventionally accustomed, and a view which liberates the human mind from its constricting identification with the abstract ego. According to tradition, the originator of Taoism, Lao-Tzu, was an older contemporary of Confucius, who died in 479 BC. Lao-tzu is said to have been the author of the Tao Te Ching, a short book of amorphisms setting forth the principles of the Tao and its power or virtue (Te). But traditional Chinese philosophy ascribes both Taoism and Confucianism to a still earlier source, to a work which lies at the very foundation of Chinese thought and culture, dating from 3000 to 1200 BC. This is the I Ching, or The Book of Changes. The I Ching is ostensibly a book of divination. It consists of oracles based on sixty-four abstract figures, each of which is composed of six line. The lines are of two kinds- divided (negative) and undivided (positive)- and the six line figures, or hexagrams, are believes to have been based on the various ways a tortoise shell when heated. This refers to an ancient method of divination in which the soothsayer bored a hole in the back of a tortoise shell, heated it, and then foretold the future from the cracks in the shell so formed, much as palmists use the lines of the hand. Naturally, these cracks were most complicated, and sixty four hexagrams are supposed to be a simplified classification of the various patterns of cracks. For many centuries now the tortoise shell has fallen into disuse, and instead the hexagram appropriate to the moment, in which an oracle is asked a question, is determined by the random division of a set of fifty yarrow stalks. But an expert in the I Ching may not necessarily use tortoise shells or yarrow stalks. He can "see" a hexagram in anything- in the chance arrangement of a bowl of flowers, in objects scattered upon a table, in the natural markings on a pebble. A modern psychologist will recognize in this something not unlike the Rorschach test, in which psychological condition of a patient is diagnosed from the spontaneous images which a patient "sees" in a complex ink blot. Could the patient interpret his own projections upon the ink-blot, he would have gained some useful information about himself for the guidance of future conduct. In this view we cannot dismiss the divinatory art of the I Ching as mere superstition. Indeed, an exponent of the I Ching might give us quite a tough argument about the relative merits of our ways for making important decisions. We feel we decide rationally because we base our decisions on collecting relevant data about the matter at hand. We do not depend on such irrelevant trifles as the chance tossing of a coin, the patterns of tea leaves or the cracks in a shell. Yet he might ask whether we really know what information is relevant since our plans are constantly upset by utterly unforeseen incidents. He might ask how we know when we have collected enough information upon which ti decide. If we were rigorously "scientific" in collecting information about our decisions, it would take us so long to collect the data that the time for action would have passed. The exponent of the I Ching would ask how do we know when we have enough? Does the information itself tell us that it is enough? On the contrary, we go though the motions of gathering the necessary information in a rational way, and then, just because of a hunch, or because we are tired of thinking, or because the time has come to decide, we act. He would ask whether this is not depending just as much on upon "irrelevant trifles" as if we had been casting the yarrow stalks. In other words, the "rigorously scientific" method of predicting the future can be applied only in special cases - where prompt action is not urgent, where factors involved are largely mechanical and predictable. One would argue that the far greater of our important decisions depend upon "hunch" - in other words, upon "peripheral vision" of the mind. Thus the reliability of our decisions rests ultimately upon our ability to "feel" the situation, upon the degree to which this "peripheral vision" has been developed. Every exponent of the I Ching knows this. He knows that the book itself does not contain an exact science, but rather a useful tool which will work for him if he has a good "intuition", or if, as he would say, he is "in the Tao". Thus one does not consult the oracle without proper preparation in order to bring the mind into that calm state where the "intuition" is felt to act more effectively. It would seem then that if the origins of Taoism are found in the I Ching they are not so much in the text of the book itself as in the way in which it was used, and the assumptions underlying it. As experience in making decisions by intuition might well show, this "peripheral" aspect of the mind works best works best when do not try and interfere with it, when we trust it to work by itself, spontaneously. Thus the basic principles of Taoism begin to unfold. There is, first of all, the Tao - the indefinable "process" of the world, the Way of Life. The Chinese word means originally a way or road, and sometimes "to speak", so that the first line of Lao-Tzu's Tao-Te Ching contains a pun on the two meanings: Quote:The Tao which can be spoken is not eternal Tao.In trying to suggest what he means, Lao-Tzu says: Quote:There was something vague before heaven and earth arose. How calm! How void! It stands alone, unchanging; it acts everywhere, untiring. It may be considered the mother of everything under heaven. I do not know its name, but I call it by the word Tao.And again: Quote:The Tao is something blurred and indistinct. The important difference between tao and the usual idea of God is that whereas God produces the world by making (wei) , while the Tao produces it by not-making (wu-wei), or what we would think of as being, or growing. Things are "made" from separate parts put together like mechanical machines, whereas when things are grown, they divde themselves into parts, operating in accordance with spontaneity. In the words of Lao-Tzu great successor Chuang-Tzu: Quote:Things are produced around us, but no one knows teh whence. They issue forth, but no one see the portal. Men one and all value that part of knowledge which is known, They do no know how to avail themselves of the Unknown in order to reach knowledge. Is this not misguided? The conventional relationship of the knower to the known is often that of the controller to the controlled, and thus of lord to servant. Thus whereas God is the master of the universe, since he "knows all". The relationship of the Tao to what it produces is quite otherwise. Chuang-Tzu wrote: Quote:The Great Tao flows everywhere, From my blog: What Taoists call "The Great Tao", I call "The Movements of The Spirit" I have often made impassioned assertions for the existence of spirit, and eluded to its invisible workings and relevance to current events. This is indeed the purpose behind my actions, to represent a kind of unconventional knowledge which has essentially become excluded from our twentieth century mind. However, I can be just a rational as anyone else, and by no means and I implying the existence and usefulness of conventional knowledge and current modes of thought. Quite the opposite, it is balance of these cognitive tools which is needed if we are to explore the unknown. Unfortunately they are often seen to be in conflict with each other or mutually exclusive. This results in a all or none mentality, where the spiritualists are seen a flakes, and the materialists as authoritarians. As we've seen, this polarization leads to a divide and conquer situation where end up fighting each other instead of making any progress on the path of knowledge. A balanced approach is needed, one which allows us to make use of either faculty or both. But first we must acknowledgement the existence of spirit in all things before that can even be possible. Conventional science presupposes that the material world is all that exists, that objects are measurably made and destroyed in time, and that experiences of the immaterial are subjective and essentially imagined, hallucinated or a delusion. This creates a state of conflict with us, because our intuitive sense of "Present Time" and the Spirit cannot be accounted for, but rather experienced. Accepting the scientific point of view as an authority results in repression and denial of our intuitive sense of Spirit, and can often provoke a violent rebellion against the conventions of materialism through a some form of spiritual "revolution". Revolutions are not something I actively support, as they are often intentionally created as a controlled reaction, notorious for replacing the order they destroy with an new order which is worse than that which preceded it. Instead, I represent thought, action, and communication that is not a revolutionary, but a revolutionary. And what revelation of truth I wish to represent is abstract and eternal nature, that which can only be experienced and remembered through a complete integration and acknowledgement of the eternal in all things. This revelation can have a curious and profound effect on our everyday lives as we attempt to roll with life's unpredictable events. Hence our need to "Roll With The Tao"... --- I once said to faust, "When you role with the Tao, you don't worry about accidents... your whole life becomes a never ending series of meaningful joyful accidents.". It was in responce to his profound question "Why is the knowledge of our past spiritually important for living in the present?" Here is his question and my full responce: Faust: "Why is the knowledge of our past spiritually important for living in the present? I dont necessarily think it affects us all. I'm content with not having all the answers of our past, even though it's an interesting subject. It's our egos that dont let us move on, and TPTB play on this. It's being able to take a step outside the box (or boxes...) and see the game for what it is." To me, 20th century social engineering is predicated on the ability to supress access to Present Time and the Oral Tradition. Information of "the present" is always more abundant than that of the past. True knowledge of the past remains rare and mysterious. I agree, this makes ancient knowledge interesting, in an intellectual sense. But in this case, the kind of knowledge I'm speaking of is silent and not of the intellect, but rather of the heart. It is a direct experience of "Present Time", which cannot be measured, can only used. It is neither abundant nor scarce, but always meaningful. We can however gain insight into it by studying or exposing ourselves to "The Oral Tradition" Our ancestors had direct knowledge of Present Time and passed on much of their the practical, experiential, and technical expertise so we might learn to operate the greatest recording and playback technology in the know universe; human awareness. What nagualists call "The Mastery of Awareness" was passed on through the ages against the will of the conqering authorities, and now in the information age can be duplicated infnitely. The Secret Oral Tradition has now become a digital revelation dispersed throughout world, but made in comprehensible by our total denial of the existance and meaning of Present Time. Our egos, which measure everything, are at odds with Present Time. By stimulating our desire, our self-importance, our survival instinct, "TPTB" can "play" us and provoke a programmed reaction. But such a system is essential recreated everyday from scratch as each individual as we repeats the previous days routines, and continues doing so for years, decades, until a century of complete order exists. Its as if we are hard wired to a system, repeating the same circulatory day after day reality. Yet the invisible, silent world of Present Time is wild, blowing in and out of your mind and taking you to places you never expected, showing you things that make sense but often you cannot remember, let alone put into words. It is powerful and unpredictable, and so it is what TPTB fear most. To me, the core of 20th century conspiracy research is social engineering, and the core of social engineering is controling Present Time and the Oral Tradition. To understand this we must redefine what human power is. What "the powers that be" have is not really power, but authority which is given to them by those with power. Us. We have the power, personal power when can only given, not taken, away. From generation to generation, through our belief, thoughts and actions, we create the new world order, and have for a century or more... Giving our power away. Instead of being played, we actually play along... not designing teh world, but certainly participating in its apocalyptic outcome through our own suppression and the suppression of others. The deadly beauty of how capitalism it makes us complicit, without power, and totally dependant on the system. It enforces a worldview which completely excludes the utterly human element of power. Many of mentors believe in such a global, anti-spiritual scheme. In his work Daniel Sheehan speaks of a worldview which doesn't deny the Spirit or exclude knowledge of Present Time or the mastery of Awareness. Jon Rappoport says that our power to create and believe in reality is systematically provoked by the authorities. He and others such as Michael Greer and Alan Moore, suggest that this magical nature of humanity be used to begin changing the world view away from inevitability, toward creative potential. The files I posted from Graham Hancock's workcan be seen as a representation of what can be accomplished by humanity when it is connected to present time, in body, mind and spirit. Even historical suppression of this knowledge should be a part of our total worldview! For example, for the last 100 years Egyptology has progressed not at all, and has basically become a big lie. The failing of such a prominent institution is beyond interesting when combined with information on the education system and social engineering, its beomes downright conspiratorial. There is a big secret about human potential being covered up. It resonates with world wars, economics, biology, and history. All the things we were lied tto about in school become a "reality" for us as adults. The very idea of constant war is appalling, and when our egos can no longer be stimulated, it continues to provoke a (squared) reaction. Like being "hard wired" to circuitry, the program can systematically regulate opening and closing-off conduits. Our minds and bodies can be regulated, predicted, and very often accelerated. War can be used to keep us separate from Present Time, in addition to threatening our own lives AND those of others... people are dying or suffering, and somehow we can effect it. For past generations, religion or science could "solve" those problems, but our generation is so disaffected, we get shows like "World Vision." That is why I mentioned it above, because it is a perfect New World Order ploy... I remember being programmed since I was 5 years old, watching Sally Struthers, the star of a show I had never seen, tell me I was killing children unless I phone this number. She kept repeating how just one cup of water could save an entire village. I would look at my glass of water and think how many African kids I was killing with each gulp. In class I was always taught about over population in "third world countries". In north america, where the middle class is grown like even grass on the pasture, Sally is basically saying we're all child killers. Just like we are supposedly killing people in war, we are responsible for something happening in an outside "World Vision". Everything else is hidden in plain view. It seems the propaganda is always covering up something juicy though, isn't it? "TPTB" is a term that obscures the meaning of true human power, which is given by humans to the authorities... Wars and rumors of wars obscure the ancient way of the warrior and keep us afraid of death.... our schools and jobs keep us in a daily routine of square routes and objects which attempts to replace our geomantic traditions with routines and objects. When you live like a warrior, you face death everyday, so you won't spend much time worrying about the possibility of war... becuase you are always at war, and every moment matters. Instead we worry about the invitable instead of acting apon it, we react instead of acting, and in so doing void taking responsibility for our true power. Instead of coming together and exploring the the unknown, we allow ourselves to bee divided and separated by war; drug war, race war, gender war, class war and holy war. "World Vision" is the ultimate war, the war on poverty. Itconceals Present Time in a seemingly unending, morally and material declining "nOw", a dram it perpetuates by creating a stage play of horrible "accidents" which we all watch and buy into through the "authority" of the media. ANd when accidents become a bad thing, you are no longer living in present time. As a wise man once wrote, "When you role with the Tao, you don't worry about accidents"... your whole life becomes a never ending series of meaningful joyful accidents. Finding an entrance to Present Time, is always unpredictable and meaningful. They are the movements of the Spirit, moving beneath us as it carries all of us on its back, like a giant turtle swimming in ocean tides. We think that because of our attachment to the shell, our world is stable, unmoving, threatened only outside forces. But if and when we let go we can see that we'd been in motion the whole time. In Present Time you can see the shell moving, and your life becomes unpredictable, imbued with the movements of the spirit. I believe that this is what the matrix was built to destroy; our access to the Spirit through direct knowledge of Present Time. There are no accidents in New World Order, and continued economic, medical, and military supression will lead to people seek spiritual answers as a provoked response... especially to what can only be described as completely moral and ethical collapse of all systems of authority, law and government. So we must assume that they know and are actively trying to deny us access to this knowledge so that we will be dependant on them and thier fictional form of stability. That's why the oral tradition must be recovered, the spirit revived, and direct experiences pursued actively. Chris Carota Originally written, Sunday November 5th, 2006, on "Tales of Power" |

What If We Are Crashing The System?
Nice post C, thanks for mentioning the breaking the chains forum, I didn't notice it.
Very nice posts everyone. Tao is a key spiritual element, Allan Watts does explain it well. And I think what Chris said here is important: "When you role with the Tao, you don't worry about accidents... your whole life becomes a never ending series of meaningful joyful accidents.". It's being able to take a step outside the box (or boxes...) and see the game for what it is." And just to add, problems, addictions and anything else just fall away easily when you exist in and accept the present, then, without all those things blocking you, you begin to see challenges and solutions more clearly. |

What If We Are Crashing The System?
Hi all , sweet thread.
~welcome Resonate, been enjoying your posts, TY. Quote:"Why is the knowledge of our past spiritually important for living in the present?" For many possible reasons, for instance; -a sense of direction. "if you don't know where you came from , you don't know where you're going" A bit tricky because there exists a natural cycle a person goes through in a human life, which i believe to be usefull to be aware of and strive to be at peace with, but there are also many socially, culturally, imposed standards and pre-fab expectations tied to what is percievd as "the walk of life" , which are often restricting, limiting, and contradictory to a true cosmogeny of Self-hood. or sense of direction through reflection. -experience based discernment. All empirical knowledge an individual has comes from "past" experience, without knowing of how ones knowledge came into being , having no relation to the moment/situation/lesson of attaining the understanding , you could say there is no "testing ground" present in a person lacking knowledge or conceptualization of [his/her] past. Past - can be very personal or a accepted part out of collective experience, it doesn't have to be grounded in factual reality either to make the title "past" and barriers tend to get blurry as the human mind forgets way too easily. We selectively recall details, memories, to fit the present reality or provide contrast to it, a subconscious process , constantly active, updating, configuring and thus adapting, trauma is blocked, conflicting alternates wiped away, coherent tales are woven. "The Past " - the collective consensus theoretical "what or who am I , how did I get "here" ' is far from unchangeable, i believe it takes no more than 2 or perhaps 3 generations of promoting a half ass funky theory [take your pick of envisioning which] to get a fair amount of born and bred believers with that foundation for "Past" -in this particular sense. The less one actively considers ones conceptualization , the less questioning of it, or testing of it , the less alternatives [especially that are not diametric opposites to 1] or refinements one considers, the less sizable the spectrum of possibilities one envisions in "the present'. It doesn't matter how skeptical you think you are, there myth in "your past" somewhere. peace' If Thine I that I spy with my own little I Doeth Offend thee ; Pluck It out. |

I couldn't have said it better myself  Standvast, resonate says what i should have clarified. It is the addiction of living in the past and not in the present that stalls us to move on. Agreed with everything in your post. Quote:Chris, how about continuing the "tales of power" blog fella?Tales of Power was an attempt to integrate my conspiracy research with warrior philosophy by telling stories of personal power... through "The Oral Tradition", a spiritual practice many people here participate in by writing, sharing, and radio shows. I feel I have contributed a part to the oral tradition, so now I must draw upon that, recapulate it, and express it as a cohesive whole, or world view. Have you read you read my post on Einstein and Utopianism in MnR's thread Why War? It was based on a blog entry called "Utopia Now and The End of History "... which was based on a post called "The End of History - A Battle For Individual Freedom" in Yeti's controversial thread "I am Pro NWO, ask me how"... which started in the comment section (now deleted) of the infamous JFK speech on Secret Societies... follow the threads and they lead to the perennial questions of conspiracy research. I think its time for answers. -Chris |

What If We Are Crashing The System?
Room for a newbie? hope you don't mind, some sheep followed me - they're my friends. If you can't convert them you can always throw them on the barbie.
It's a bit of a problem you see, sheep surround me, and they're not bad people: simple, trusting yes but naive to the ways of the world. Many are even kind and thoughtful when treated properly, although it is true many have neither the emotional nor mental capacity to fully appreciate the sticky fix we find ourselves in. Although, it is also fair to say, fully appreciating the complexities and scale of the problem is quite beyond me too. At heart I am sheep, happy to graze on God's great gifts. I want nothing more than to labour in the fields, cook and share precious moments with those closest to me, to see my children grow and share in their laughter and experience. Stupid sheep, perhaps you say, but is it stupid to appreciate life, both one's own, and all that surrounds us? It is sadly true, those moments become rarer and rarer as the noose tightens and perhaps why, at last i wake up - but, I LIKE SLEEP (as well as sheep), and it seems perhaps, given the tortured souls who litter our world - and most particularly this website - there's some severe cases of sleep deprivation. The system will crash, that is a given. Money has entirely lost its meaning, so now the only reason it works is because we believe in it - just as God used to do, before Man became 'enlightened'. So you only really need one big catastrophe, which all the money in the world can't fix to see the whole lot go down the tubes. The system is ripe, the US is bankrupt - what is it? 40 trillion dollars it owes now - another war will no doubt keep the system going for a while but it cannot be maintained indefinitely. And neither you nor the sheep nor anything on God's earth can do anything about it. This includes all those silly arrogant people in their secret little groups with their funny handshakes and ancient mysteries and obscene wealth (conceptual wealth). Conceptual wealth in the form of a rather useless yellow metal, with which they believe they control the world. One should of course describe them as utter morons, thinking that humanity would be stupid enough to believe that this effectively useless substance, with no value beyond chaining prisoners and little sparkley ornaments could enslave humankind, but, i fear, as things stand, more stupid even than the arrogants, are those who imitate and admire and submit. It is the very enslavement of our minds to their concepts that will enable them to rebuild the system in their own image. So, in answer to the question - simply, yes. The more important question is, what are you we going to do about it? Oh, sorry, hope i haven't spoiled the atmosphere - shall we throw another sheep on the barbie? |
