Blackwater Air Force
From the September 2007 Idaho Observer:

Blackwater Air Force

<blockquote>In the July edition of The Idaho Observer, we ran an extensive story by Jeremy Scahill exposing the underlying purpose of armed and perpetual military conflict: It’s immensely profitable for those who have corporate interests in war. The private security company Blackwater U.S.A., run by former Navy Seals and other highly-trained special forces types, is growing exponentially at this time, reaping the rewards to be gleaned from war and "reconstruction." As its influence grows during this time of deepening and expanding conflict, so do the number of specialized services Blackwater is able to offer.

Blackwater U.S.A. is reportedly buying Super Tucano light combat aircraft from the Brazilian manufacturer Embraer. "These five ton, single engine, single seat aircraft are built for pilot training, but also perform quite well for counter-insurgency work.... The bubble canopy provides excellent visibility. This, coupled with its slow speed (versus jets), makes it an excellent ground attack aircraft," Jeremy Scahill, author of "Blackwater: The Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army" (2006).

The Super Tucano "can carry up to 1.5 tons of weapons, including 12.7mm machine-guns, bombs and missiles."

Since the U.S. military has enjoyed complete air dominance over Iraq since 1990, and Iraq is currently Blackwater’s main area of operations, one has to wonder why Blackwater is beginning to assemble an air force.

According to Scahill, "Blackwater’s been in negotiations with several state governments in the United States. Blackwater met recently with California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger about doing disaster response in California. They’re opening up a new private military base in San Diego and another one in Mount Carroll, Illinois. Blackwater has applied for operating licenses in every coastal U.S. state."

What Scahill has uncovered is that Blackwater is establishing, in cooperation with state governments with the apparent approval of the Bush administration, what is tantamount to private military bases inside the U.S.

Per National Security Presidential Directive (NSPD)-51, the plans by which the executive branch would run the entire government in the event of a "catastrophic emergency," which could be anything from a terrorist attack, a disease outbreak or a natural disaster. "Catastrophic Emergency" means any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions."

It would appear that Blackwater is working with the executive branch to lay the groundwork for an eventual catastrophic emergency. For years now public servants and emergency medical personnel have been planning and preparing to do their parts in a declared state of emergency and even the clergy is being enlisted by the Department of Homeland Security to keep citizens in line in the event of a declaration of martial law. It is disconcerting that a private company with close ties to the GOP is arming itself with attack planes just at the moment when the President is laying the groundwork to exercise extraordinary martial authority during a state of emergency.</blockquote>

Edit: thanks to hardboiled for the tip.

More on the Super Tucano...

<blockquote>EMB-314 Super Tucano / ALX Trainer / Light Attack Aircraft, Brazil

The EMB-314 Super Tucano is an enhanced version, with faster speed and higher altitude, of the EMB-312 Tucano trainer aircraft which is operational in the Air Forces of 17 countries. The prototype of the Super Tucano first flew in 1992. Both Tucano and Super Tucano have been developed and built by Embraer of Brazil. 41 EMB-314 aircraft are in service with the Brazilian Air Force out of a total order of 66.

The main missions of the aircraft, in addition to basic and advanced pilot training, are border patrol and counter-insurgency operations. The flight envelope of the aircraft is +7G and -3.5G. The aircraft's small size, small visual and radar signatures, together with high speed and agility give the aircraft high survivability. Additional survivability features include armour protection and critical systems redundancy.

In August 2001, the Dominican Republic signed a contract for the supply of ten Super Tucano aircraft, to be used for pilot training, internal security, border patrol and counter-narcotics trafficking missions.

In February 2005, Venezuela selected the EMB-314 Super Tucano. 12 aircraft were to be ordered, with a further 12 planned. The sale fell through because it was thought the USA would block the transfer of US-built components.

In December 2005, the Columbian Air Force placed a contract for 25 Super Tucano aircraft. The aircraft will be used for border patrol and internal security. The first five were delivered in December 2006. Elbit Systems has been contracted to supply the avionics suite.

ALX LIGHT ATTACK AIRCRAFT

In 1995, Embraer was awarded a contract to develop a variant of the Super Tucano, known as the ALX or Light Attack Aircraft, for the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), optimised for the environmental conditions of the Brazilian Amazon. The ALX is capable of operating day and night missions from remote bases and unpaved runways with minimal ground support. The first production aircraft was completed in 1999.

In August 2001, the Brazilian Air Force awarded Embraer a contract for 76 ALX aircraft, with options for a further 23. 51 of these aircraft will be two-seater versions, designated AT-29, which will enter service at the Natal Air Force Base to replace the AT-26 Xavante advanced jet trainers, which are approaching the end of their operational lives. The remaining 25 aircraft will be the single-seat A-29 version.

One of the main missions of the aircraft will be border patrol under the Sistema de Vigilancia da Amazonia (SIVAM) programme. The first aircraft was delivered in December 2003 and final delivery is scheduled for 2006.

COCKPIT

The all-glass cockpit is fully night vision goggle compatible. Brazilian AF ALX aircraft are equipped with avionics systems from Elbit Systems Ltd of Haifa, Israel, including a Head-Up Display (HUD), advanced mission computer, navigation system and two 6in x 8in colour liquid crystal multi-function displays.

The head-up display with 24° field of view and the advanced weapon delivery system are integrated through a MIL-STD-1553B data bus. The pilot is provided with a Hands On Throttle And Stick (HOTAS) control.

The pilot is protected with Kevlar armour and provided with a zero/zero ejection seat. The clamshell canopy, hinged at the front and rear and electrically activated, is fitted with a de-icing system and features a windshield capable of withstanding, at 300kt, the impact of a 4lb bird. A Northrop Grumman On-Board Oxygen Generation System (OBOGS) is installed.

WEAPONS

The aircraft is fitted with two central mission computers. The integrated weapon system includes software for weapon aiming, weapon management, mission planning and mission rehearsal. On-board recording is used for post mission analysis.

The aircraft has five hardpoints for carrying weapons, and is capable of carrying a maximum external load of 1,500kg. The aircraft is armed with two wing-mounted 12.7mm machine guns with a rate of fire of 1,100 rounds a minute and is capable of carrying general-purpose bombs and guided air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles. Brazilian AF aircraft will be armed with the MAA-1 Piranha short-range infrared guided air-to-air missile from Orbita.

The two seat AT-29 is fitted with a forward-looking infrared AN/AAQ-22 SAFIRE turret on the underside of the fuselage. The SAFIRE thermal imaging system supplied by FLIR Systems is for targeting, navigation and target tracking. The system allows the aircraft to carry out night surveillance and attack missions.

NAVIGATION

The aircraft is equipped with an advanced laser inertial navigation and attack system, a Global Positioning System (GPS) and a Traffic alerting and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS).

ENGINE

The EMB-314 Super Tucano is powered by a PT6A-68A turboprop engine, developing 969kW. The power plant is fitted with automatic engine monitoring and control. The ALX aircraft has a more powerful engine than the EMB-314. The ALX's Pratt and Whitney Canada PT6A-68/3 turboprop engine, rated at 1,600shp, drives a Hartzell five-bladed constant speed fully feathering reversible pitch propeller.

The fuel capacity is 695l, which gives a range of over 1,500km and endurance of 6hrs 30mins. The aircraft has a cruising speed up to 530km/h with a maximum speed of 560km/h.

I mentioned this in a chat with hardboiled, but its funny that when you do a google search with the terms Blackwater Air Force, you get a bunch of stories about fights between Blackwater and Air Force personnel. It seems that Blackwater doesn't play nice with conventional military, and at any rate, military doesn't seem to like Blackwater or any Private Security Company to begin with.

http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/the-pe...ackwater-03703/

<blockquote>Operating and recapitalization costs for front-line fighters are up in the stratosphere, even as a wide variety of conflicts around the world fit counterinsurgency profiles requiring affordable, persistent surveillance and rapid fire support. UAVs are filling an important niche, and their success is triggering major bureaucratic showdowns in response, but they remain expensive, are much more crash-prone than manned aircraft, and offer a limited field of view.

Under the circumstances, it isn't surprising that some nations are turning back to simpler aircraft whose speed, view, and weapons carriage are purpose-built to offer dependable counter-insurgency surveillance and fire support at lower cost. America's A-10 "Warthog" widely outclasses much more expensive aircraft, for instance, and has become the key manned fighter of the global war on terror. Even as nations like Columbia purchase dual role trainer/COIN Super Tucano planes, and Iraq holds an aircraft competition for modified trainer/COIN aircraft of its own

Trends becomes more surprising, and interesting, when private security firms look at their options, see a solution's logic, and step on board….

Richard North notes that security contractor Blackwater bought a number of BAE OMC's mine-resistant Mamba vehicles from the British Army for use in Iraq, even as Britain was still fielding Land Rovers as their primary transport in a land mine war, and America was buying flat-bottomed Hummers. Now StrategyPage reports that Blackwater has ordered some Super Tucano aircraft of its own. One EMB-314 has been purchased for pilot training, a function to which the platform is also well suited – and more aircraft will reportedly follow.

In contrast to government air forces, buying F-16s or high end fighters wasn't really an option for Blackwater. Still, if the firm ends up using the aircraft effectively in conflict situations, the current penchant for dismissing the value of COIN aircraft will suddenly face higher hurdles, and closer scrutiny from cost-conscious taxpayers.

These sorts of incidents illustrate why the slow growth of military capabilities among private security firms, who can amass a combat record and lessons learned faster than most nation states, is an underlying defense trend worth watching. During the Cold War, this function was performed via superpower-supported proxy wars. These days, private entities that can react more nimbly than almost any government may be stepping into that vacuum.</blockquote>

And now we see why conventional military doesn't like PSC's... why spend $1,000,000 on the military when you can spend $500,000 on a PSC and have the job done better? So, the military ends up with less money and toys to play with.

On September 22nd, 2007, an investigation by Federal prosecutors as to whether Blackwater employees illegally smuggled weapons into Iraq, that were later possibly transfered to a "U.S.-designated terror organization" in various black market transactions was announced. The investigation is being handled by North Carolina U.S. Attorney's Office with assistance from auditors of the Defense and State departments. Officials state that there is enough evidence to file charges as told to The Associated Press on September 22nd.

And yes mifune, thats the whole point, and they are not going to use blackwater solely for over seas, but soon for inside the u.s.a, posse comitatus is dead, it doesn't apply to private contracters....

Blackwater: "Mafia-like"Mercenaries in Iraq and California: What We Can Do at Home About This
<blockquote>
What is Blackwater USA? It is a private security firm owned by a shadowy, right-wing billionaire named Erik Prince, one of the largest donors to the Republican Party and to far-right causes. He wants to open a base here in San Diego County to train vigilantes to do what they did in Iraq. While we have no control over what President Bush and Blackwater do in Iraq, we must not let them operate in our state.</blockquote>

Infinite glade you are concerned about that, I am aware from my research into blackwater over the past few days. That they seem to be setting up in major population areas inside the U.S. like California as a example. This may be cause of concern if say the stock market callapses (which it will in 2009-2012) by the beginning of 2008, it will be around $100+ a barrel for oil.

Blackwater, and other contractors will be called in to help out on another contract when a major event happens, just like Iraq, working alone with government agencys to keep "PEACE" but while they cover up with that, they will more then likely be raiding people who are considered dangerous to the Military industrial complex, militia groups and the such. This may all happen sooner but they still do not have everything ready to push the NAU, next step in their plan is to inplant national ID and all the other stuff, slowly putting us into the system, but by 2012 the system will be set up, they need a damn good reason for the people of the U.S. Canada, and Mexico to push us into the NAU, and they just getting all the game pieces in place before they do anything, they will show the people that they can have their lives back and better again if we accept the NAU.

ALSO: The U.S. Military, about 94% of them will never fire upon any U.S. citizen (they are asked this question before they sign up on a contract they fill out), but forign troops and hired goons will, most definently if you are making 150k + a year to blow shit up and kill peolpe with guns are that provided for you.

I heard they were having some problems getting the national id through, like that the states weren't funding it or something. The ACLU declared it "practically dead" for whatever they're worth, the story's probably archived on this site. & now the microchip has been shown to cause cancer. Those seemed like good signs, I hope they're failing at this shit. Also there's something like 9 guns for every 10 Americans in the U.S. & those are just the ones registered I think.

Yes, so far, its failing, but doesnt mean the globalist elite will not give up, in fact, I have found that one scenario is to just to ultimently destroy the U.S. for good. Like a war with China. Will definetly kill us, for sure. Kill off two of your pawns once they done your bidding, they serrously do not care about us anyways, they been known to do this in the past. Thats worst case scenario. I am sure when the dust settles they will send in some type of aid once their dubia/EU/middleeastern unions are done, but iunno what they gonna do if those fail, lets just hope its a good thing for us all.

Yeah it doesn't mean they'll give up, but at least it's a start. This shit's not new it's been going on forever we just happen to know about it. I'd rather not live pessimistic you know? The new age type people say that brings the shit about anyway so fuck it. Just spread the information & prepare w/food, guns, etc. is all you can do. I want to get involved with a 9/11 truth group & do some good but I'm not sure what happened to Dan Wallace & no one talks about it so that freaks me out, plus the lead member of the one near me is James Meig's nephew how bout that. He might be legit but it's impossible to know & I don't wanna get 'suicided' or anything. I'm sure someone will come & attack me for writing that like infowarrior but I don't give a fuck.

I'm quite certain that the PTB would much rather see the world slip into their control gradually and silently rather than as a result of a much riskier world war. We can't wait for the fight to come to us. Half a battle is won simply by choosing where and when to fight.

Well you make a statement saying that if you commit sucide it wasnt on purpose. I will say this now though, these people can come up with anything soon, and it might be a big shock, and highly sophicated plan, we are dealing with sociopathic elites here, they are not stupid, nor are t he people they hire to work with in these plans, who are probably psychopaths at least. The thing about wallace and such, I cant really say, you never know, but if he was on t o something or had a insider source I am sure he was killed.
