Israeli FM Livni and PM Olmert

[Israeli] Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said a few months ago in a series of closed discussions that in her opinion Iranian nuclear weapons do not pose an existential threat to Israel, Haaretz magazine reveals in an article on Livni to be published tomorrow.

Livni also criticized the exaggerated use that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is making of the issue of the Iranian bomb, claiming that he is attempting to rally the public around him by playing on its most basic fears. Last week, former Mossad chief Ephraim Halevy said similar things about Iran...

Comment: We hate to break it to ya folks, but you're being lied to; the good news however is that now you can "take it to the bank" because someone in authority has just confirmed it for you.

Iran poses no threat to anyone, no matter how much Bush and Co rant and rave or play the fear card with talk of a "third world war". Even though one of our beloved political authority figures has now spelled it out, it should have been screamingly obvious right from the get-go that Iran's nuke potential is but an excuse. After all, how hard is it to figure out that Iran with one nuke is as dangerous to Israel or the US or Europe as the North American Indians were to the US army when they acquired one rifle.

But just for fun, let's ignore the evidence to the contrary (here, here and here) and imagine for a moment that it is true that Iran is attempting to make, or horror of horrors, actually HAS one nuclear bomb. What precisely are the Iranians going to do with such a device? Launch it at someone? Israel perhaps? The moment they attempted to do so the Zionist government would immediately retaliate, destroying the Iranian nuke in flight and launch a few dozen of its 400 nuclear missiles at Iran, thereby ending Iran's short-lived membership of the nuclear club not to mention its status as a developing world nation.

THAT, dear readers is a very realistic assessment of the situation. So I ask you: if you were an Iranian leader, would you be thinking about attacking Israel, or anyone, with your single nuke? Do you think that Ahmadinejad and Co are seriously considering such strategy? Are we to presume the Iranian leadership really don't like their grip on power and wish to present Israel and the US with the opportunity to take it from them? Let's get real here, if at 81 years old, Fidel Castro can see it, why can't everyone?

Of course, the fact the Israeli Foreign Minister has revealed all of this, albeit in fewer words than I, doesn't mean that you should no longer be afraid, in fact it means that now you should be truly afraid, because you've just realised (or you should have) that the people that you thought were going to protect you from "world war three" are actually the ones that are planning to ignite it, and shove you and your loved ones onto center stage to take the flak.
