Help on uploading

Hi,
I'm confused on posting, but slowly sorting things out.
I'm in Constanta, Romania, a port city named after Constantine's niece (I think it was the niece, anyway some relative). Constantinople, is an 8 hour drive from here, that is modern day Istanbul.
I'm an American, so please don't hold that against me, ha! Anyway I don't believe what nationality you are is that important except it gives diversity and culture. Of course culture is fading fast into a world one culture of marketing brand names. I lived most my life in countries like, India, Pakistan, Turkey and now Romania.
Well, the thing I would like to accomplish today is uploading a torrent! I think I have done all the steps. I can see my torrent in Azureus. Then I upload to http://conspiracycentral.net:6969/upload.html However when I go to Conspiracy central index I can't find it there. I uploaded to http://www.mininova.org/. So I'm just a little confused on what I haven't done to make this work. I have some cool stuff to upload.

I made some changes according some information I read on forum on uploading by Ephilution . I now have the file downloading with one peer which is me I reckon. Is that right? Am I on the right TRACK?

Ok, I'm making progress. I see the file on ConCen index, but I see I named it wronged. It is called TBC instead of Green Paper Pig, which is the US dollar. Anyway writing myself seems to help sort it out, ha!

Nice to see you solved some of your own problems, that always helps. but the mods an members are here to help as well. Your torrent don't seem to have a seed, thats the number one issue... make sure you are connected as a seeder. This is selected with azureus or whatever client you use. If you can't get it to work, then no one will be able to download it. The next problem is that your file name is lacking, as you said. You can fix this by deleting and reloading the torrent.

One suggestion I would make is to make your the description medium length and use wording with will attract people to download it (a acronym with no explination is pretty much the worst you can do). When you create the torrent, include an even more extensive descrition, rather than put it in the comments, so when they click on the tracker link, they'll see what you are talkign about an download it for sure, and if the torrent gets redistributed, it will be there.... at the very minimum, this description should include a file list (especially if it's a compilation) and some technical details (such as size and length). This will ensure that peopel know what they are getting, so you wont get flamed by ingrates :wink:

You can also post your file description here in the Torrent Seeding Sub-Forum first, and then include a link to your thread it when you upload the torrent to the tracker. This will help make your torrent more visible to members, and provide a space on the forums for further discussion and feedback. You can also add comments on the tracker as well, provide further links and information through either.

Finally, if you are unhappy with your description name or torrent description, just remember you can always delete the torrent from the "My Torrents" Page, alter the description in azureus, resave the torrent, and reload with a new torrent name, and the seeds and leeches will still be there, just don't wait tooo long or they will go away :biggrin: Just remember, the more you upload, the better you'll get, and the only way to learn is trial and error, so even if you make some mistakes, keep at it.

After uploading I always do a "Update Tracker" in uTorrent to update the client with the tracker to let it know I'm now seeding.... then I go to the index and hold down shift and hit refresh to ensure I don't get a cached copy. Works every time.

If theres only you uploading (which of course there is only gonna be you seeding to start with) if you're using uTorrent, double click the torrent in uTorrent, and tick "Initial Seeding". I think ths gives people who can upload the file fast themselves the file first so it gets seeded faster. It used to be called "Super Seeding" but now its called "Initial Seeding". :rolleyes:

PS don't use uTorrent v1.7, get hold of v1.6.1.490 from somwhere if you can, that v1.7 is dodgy.
