Waking the neighbours at 23:11
OK, so I was gonna make a radio show about this idea, or a tracker post but now I'm "back" I'll make a forum post about an idea I had.
On 11th December at 23:11 (in your timezone) everyone should blast out on every piece of audo equipment in thier house a specific song - with the windows open of course. I chose 11-11pm as to many 9/11 means nothing, in other countries you'll find it called 11S, 11-9 or whatever. 11 seems to be the important part, and 23 of course is more anti-social and later than 21-11pm. If you work in a bar, disco, restaurant or whatever then of course you can also play the song there. This fulfills the "I wanna do something but don't wanna get off my ass" perspective many have about waking people up. You don't even have to leave your house, which will be popular with many. Now I was thinking whatever song it is, it needs to be known by all, it needs to be pretty much neutral so we cannot have "patriots" playing the national anthem of the USA as it simply won't work overseas. It needs to be a song everyone alive is likely to know, and that everyone probably has or can get easy access to. Also the song has to have some sort of message - and as there are no popular songs about the day itself then a general message of love/peace is sufficient. Now I think there are only 1 or 2 songs that meet this criteria - namely All You Need Is Love by The Beatles, and Imagine by John Lennon. Everyone knows these songs, regardless of what country in the world you are in, and what language you speak. I think the perfect candidate is All You Need Is Love - as it is a better message, and also was used during the first ever transatlantic live satellite broadcast when The Beatles + friends performed it. So I am suggesting at 23:11 on 11th December we all play this song on full blast. Now you might make yopur neighbours angry - so leaflet them first. We need to design a leaflet in all languages, explaining what is happening at 23:11, and why it is happening. The general idea is to demand a new investigation of 9/11. It's a pretty easy yet loud way to protest. It's a good way to get active locally in your street, to see who is serious, to see who is asleep.... and more importantly... for those on the fence to get an idea about just how many people care about such issues, i.e. how many people will be joining in and playing this music. We saw the response Ron Paul had on 5th November, so lets discuss if this is a good idea or not - and how we go about making a site/global message, and start getting active.... even in small ways. |

Everyone knows these songs, regardless of what country in the world you are in, and what language you speak. I like the idea, don't think enough would participate, but wouldn't hurt to try. Would like it applied for the world in general though, as opposed to only 9-11, they won't tell us what really happened. 'All You Need Is Love' - is by no doubt, the better choice. &Alice laughed, &There's no use trying,& she said: &one can't believe impossible things.& &I daresay you haven't had much practice,& said the Queen. &When I was your age I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.& - Lewis Carroll &Things are seldom as they seem ... Skim milk masquerades as cream.& - Gilbert and Sullivan (Pinafore) At NASA, it really is rocket science, and the decision makers really are rocket scientists. But a body of research that is getting more and more attention points to the ways that smart people working collectively can be dumber than the sum of their parts. .. Irwin Janis? &Groupthink:& is a mode of thinking that people engage in when they are deeply involved in a cohesive in-group, when the members' striving for unanimity override realistic appraisals ? It is the triumph of concurrence over good sense, and authority over expertise.& -John Schwartz & Matthew L. Wade |
