Lookin for audio boosting software like a soft amp

What playback software are you using?

For instance, Winamp has plugins for volume normalizing and gain boosting that can be found on Winamps page. Other softs might have internal playback gain optimization. It's usually somewhat hidden though....

As for externals, I haven't looked for anything as I use plugins for Winamp.

Most of the time, I find laptop speakers to be pretty damn useless. The amount of gain before they distort is pretty low so you can have a low volume clear reproduction or a higher (but still not that high) volume but distorted to unintelligibility.

Hey thanks for the Winamp heads up! Have not used it in a long time. Sure looks a lot cooler than it used to. And the little boost was exactly what I needed THANKS!

A trick I use is to open the file up in windows media player. Then open the graphic equalizer settings turn it on then turn thenm all up.

VLC also has a audio amp like winamp in the extended GUI part of the prog and it works great too. :cool:

for audio files i like using audacity for editing. it's free. it's open source. it works well.
