Yeti: Since anyone claiming to be able to survive without food or water may be lying, and those who do likely hide it for their own reasons, the only way to know is to find out. Anyone can lie, so it has to be the one asking the question who tests and postulates. Or finds some research demonstrating that it's possible to nearly destroy the very foundation of capitalism itself by eliminating food from the sales chain.

I would imagine it's possible, with all the other strange shit a human body can do, that there are some leftover remnants of our ancestors allowing us to photosynthesise our nutrients. After doing a bit of research on sungazing, and the number of people (who may be crackpots, and may not) claiming to get their nutrients by such a method, I'm almost half insane enough to go out and try some gazing just after dawn and before dusk. -Almost.-

I guess all those tails of navigators of old losing their eyesight after staring into the sun for years are lies. I guess the people in Somalia and elsewhere who are starving to death stay inside out of the sun. I guess the lady who starved to death must have had cataracts which precluded her being able to transform the light into atoms like what happens in the sun.

This reminds me of the story about the Priest who lived on an island.He prayed to the Lord many times during his waking moments. The news was broadcast that the island would be hit by a massive tidal wave which would kill everybody. The Priest prayed to the Lord and asked that the Lord save him from the flood and God said that he would be saved.
A fleet of ships sailed into the harbor and everybody got on the ships but the Priest refused saying, "The Lord will protect me".
When the tidal wave was 15 minutes away an airplane landed and asked the Priest to come with them. He refused again, saying that the Lord would take care of him.
When the tidal wave was 2 minutes away a submarine pulled into the harbor and asked him to get on board immediately. He refused, saying that the Lord had promised to look after him.
The tidal wave hit and the Priest was killed. When he got to heavan and was kneeling before God he said,"What happened Lord, you promised to keep me from harm"? God said, "I don't know, I sent ships and a plane and a submarine".

Different biological entities. Birds can naturally fly, humans can't. Fish can naturally breath under water, humans can't. Plants natually synthesize sunlight into food. Humans can't. It's pretty simple.

It only takes one person to do this to make it true.
Even if 20 people die trying, the fact would be established that its possible. And thats the crucial point here and which people seem to be missing.

People do extraordinary things (just look on youtube), some can hold their breath underwater for 19 minutes plus or freedive to nearly 300ft on one breath. Some of the best freeclimbers almost run up impossible sheer cliffs as if they are stuck with glue.

The fact that I cant do any of these does NOT make it impossible...
