Noticed recently that when I reply to threads I am unable to use the usual editing options eg putting quotes in, hyperlinks etc.
Ive checked on my profile that this should be active but doesnt work now - used to!
Seems to have coincided with other features being added..

On different but linked topic, there seems to be an increasing practice of quoting everything a poster has said before responding. Cant posters just pick the actual section they agree/disagree with as its really tedious having to scroll down endless reams of quoted material for a one liner reply, and then have to trawl back through the 10 page quotation to see what the hell they are referring to.

RE: Posting comments
For the scrolling symptom of massive quotes in reply .. sometimes we'll issue warnings for this practice. We'll keep an eye on it.

As per the post controls.. anyone else experiencing this issue? It's fine for me. How long has this been going on? Have you tried different browsers? Do you have a script blocker?

There are no others, there is only us.

RE: Posting comments
Been going on for about a week.
Not sure why the browser would be a problem as have used firefox for years. If it helps, the panel for this or any icons themselves arent appearing, all I get is Post icons above where I write reply and to the left are the smilies panel and which doesnt work. On the get more link (on smilies), this doesnt open either.
Not sure what you mean by a script blocker but not aware I have one - only blocker I use is peer block

Your browser is used to create the pages, which is why we need to start there. I'd be willing to bet that your firefox version and settings have changed more than once in the years you've been using it. Each change in configuration or version can change how pages look/work.

The icons to the left are supposed to paste text in the post's window when you click on one. This is done with javascript, which runs on your computer, not the server. If it's not working, check that you have javascript enabled.

What happens if you use a browser other than firefox?

I am using Firefox 5.0 with Add-Block Plus, and Ghostery both switched on fully. All my plugins are up to date, that's worth checking btw, Tools -> Add-Ons -> Tools for Add-Ons (a little cog icon at the top of the page that comes up) -> Check for Updates.

Alternatively, click here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/

Armilus seems to be having issues creating comment threads:

Yes, basically it gets greyed out and nothing happens. My browser is Chrome 13, actually Iron, but it works on all pages so far.

I also add adblock.ini (with tracking sites) besides normal adblock. It accepts ini file to block domains before html engine i think.

The site you linked to is extremely suspect. I wouldn't trust anything downloaded from there. Try another browser.

RE: Posting comments
A quick search for srware scam on the Innerwebs produced some interesting links. Three perspectives of Iron are available from the following links:

http://chromium.hybridsource.org/the-iron-scam
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=286618
http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic...9d58665fff

Keep in mind that, though the first link reports Iron as a scam, the third link is most likely correct in that it's opportunistic in its attempts to leech users and potential profits from Google.
