Attention has become the new currency
While some of the phrases and ideas in this made me facepalm due to the unfortunate naiveté in this author's perspective, it doesn't end up hurting or diluting the over-all message of this well-written piece. A great read, overall.

RE: Attention has become the new currency
When , once I read, quite a while ago on "tribenet" or whatever, Daniel Pinchbeck stating that he thought that Jewish people, through suffering, had, as a group, a more "advanced" consciousness than any other human group, I kind of lost interest in his arrogance and fop musing. jmo

RE: Attention has become the new currency
This is the first time I remember reading him...
If it's true, well, that just kind of sucks. Nothing relating to that in this piece though, and if there's one thing I've learned really well since frequenting this board, it's that some people can be stupid and completely ignorant in one area of thought, and still have viable and worthwhile ideas in others.

RE: Attention has become the new currency
I agree that Pinchbeck is generally clueless. He has some decent ideas but it seems that he listened to Terrence McKenna and bunch of Pleadian Alien channelers and then formed a world view around it. I disagree with most things he has to say.

RE: Attention has become the new currency
ok... fine. He's an asshat. But is there any direct criticism of this particular piece? I mean he's saying things like:
Quote:This is one reason that the developing situation is so extremely threatening and dangerous to the powers that be: through rigorous indoctrination via the media, they have set up unreal expectations in the populace, who may become irate when it finally dawns upon them that these expectations will never be met. Instead, in reality, the little that they have is being inexorably stripped from them. The recent riots in Greece and France, and the volatile student protests in California, reveal the potential for civil unrest on a scale that will, I suspect, ultimately dwarf what we saw in the 60s.

RE: Attention has become the new currency
well, when someone keeps suggesting that you eat things like ayahuasca, peyote, and mushrooms, is it really a giant surprise when things get regurgitated?
and how does the "anglo-saxon agenda" get in the way of cogitation on this small piece of insight? I'll give you a small piece of my perspective of recent videos by Project Camelot. They perpetuate slavery. In much the same way that taoism was introduced on a large scale in Asia, this is a form of manipulation into complacence through acceptance of the status quo as inevitably leading to something greater of its own volition. How'd that work out for China?

RE: Attention has become the new currency
I like the topic thanks for posting.
Attention is a currency and always has been. With so many turning away from the pathological liars in MSM there are a lot of minds up for grabs. People are getting confused with big issues like war, global warming and vaccines getting different spin. Facts are presented as conspiracy theories. Lies are being told outright. This is compunded for the MSM with the recent deaths, MSM departures and retirements of long standing father figures that had infiltrated the trust of the populace in the media notably Walter Cronkite, Bill Moyers and Dan Rather. They are being replaced by an army of talking heads and journeymen that have some doozies to tell so they lose credibility. The war for market share is strangely seeing an escapade to entertainment news. Often referred to by some as the "Fake News". Jon Stewart, SNL News, various talk shows and Stephen Colbert. ![]() So the earning potential for attention currency can be established as reputation and loyalty. Reputation and loyalty can be quantified for a left brained Western Culture for marketing and consensus group-think traps and analyzed easily by the technocracy. Ebay has a star rating, amazon has reviews, Facebook has 'friends' and likes, Twitter has followers and Digg has diggs. YouTube has recently transitioned from Stars to Likes even for comments (polarized voting, no shades of gray anymore). ![]() People are searching the internet to pre-shop what to buy, who to hire and what to watch. Needless to say, congress and corporations have picked up on this by sending ratings armies, paid bloggers and trolls to pad numbers for the cronies, products, personalities and agendas the want to push. Essentially using 'stuffing the ballot box' techniques that, in past performances, did the job admirably with manageable backlash. The gains outstripped the losses, formulaically a net profit. Search engines and ISPs control a lot of the power on the internet battleground for attention and brand loyalty including promoting and legitimizing sources for information. ![]() With carnivore type analysis and wide data collection schemes (including ones the majority of the public has little knowledge of such as video and audio surveillance via your television, phone and computer) the science is getting to be closer to a sure bet. Analysis can be accomplished virtually in real time. A drugged, worn down, depressed and hypnotized audience are ripe for mind control techniques such as subliminal sound, audio and EM technology. Children are the main targets. Their minds are pliable and unclaimed. Their brand loyalty is not set. They are the 'undecided' demographic and more susceptible and valuable consumer. Cultural Icons such as Disney, MTV, Teletubbies, Nicktoons and the State Education (indoctrination) System all taking the lead overall at the moment. Notice how all the baby products at Wal-Mart have Elmo, Disney or some other type of branding on it. By have a kid lie their heads on a Mickey Mouse pillow in Sponge Bob pyjamas every night they are literally attempting to brand (as in taking ownership of the asset) that child's mind. ![]() With full consistent spectrum tactics constantly being used concurrently to CON our kids into buying something to gain consumer confidence, often for economic gains. They will strive to convince the public so a consumer consensus can be achieved which is now easier with more of a hive mind due to popularity contests becoming mainstream like American Idol to eBay to Facebook YouTube being based on views and likes and votes which are often constructed and confabulated by gaming methodology. Critical thinking and control over you own and more importantly our childrens' minds are things that take precedence over all other in what is perhaps the last decisive battle for our minds that will be fought for a very long time. Open conversation is important identify where our attentions, loyalties and the value and importance of trust and reputation and how to ascertain it. Consider your consciousness at all times fellow ConCeners. There are no others, there is only us. http://FastTadpole.com/ |
