Evidence Mounts For U.S. Complicity in Terror

The Yemen thing has been building for a long time now, even though it only hit fever pitch in the last week or so. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Israel had seen a continuing lessening in global interest in bombing Iran into oblivion, and got their AIPAC assholes, (in a completely anti-corruption, anti-zionist frame of mind - this is in no way anti-semitic. I love Americans but our government disgusts me, in much the same way I feel on this issue,) running in full gear to pick up interest in having the US overrun that region. The majority of Al Q is and has been based in Yemen for at least the last couple years (if they're not simply a database of middle-eastern assets as some have believably decreed over the last decade.)
If most press reports that get no coverage and are usually quickly buried by balloon-boy stories are to be believed, there are off-shoots in the horn of Africa, which is why the Yemeni issue began to pique my interest back around 1 & 1/2 - 2 years ago, when inside of the US we started hearing about Somali Pirates, as if they were some kind of brigand band about to cut the world off from the shipping lanes in the straits of Hormuz, and focused on the Gulf of Aden a a particular strategic interest to anyone that might want Oil or natural gas over the next couple decades... One of Iran's strategic strongholds.

I wrote this, and cited a couple articles back in Feb of last year:

Yemen: Al-Qaeda shakeup announced



Sanaa, 23 Jan. (AKI) - A Yemeni citizen, Abu Basir, has been appointed head of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian peninsula, after members of Al-Qaeda in Yemen and Saudi Arabia decided to increase coordination between terrorist cells in the region, according to a message posted to Islamist websites.

"We are preparing mujahadeen in training camps and they want to go to Gaza," said Basir in the message, which comes days after Israel's recent military offensive in the Gaza Strip.

A former Saudi detainee held at the US military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Abu Sufiyan al-Shahri, has been named as Basir's deputy, the message said.

"Our objective is to free Palestine and the attack on Gaza is part of the Zionist crusader campaign against Islam that has been supported against crusaders' bases on the Arabian Peninsula."

More information about the new organisation of the group will be announced soon and a video will be released featuring an interview with its 'emir', Abu Basir, produced by the 'al-Fajr' production house, the message stated.

Yemeni police have found a cache of arms allegedly used by Al-Qaeda in the capital, Sanaa.

According to the site of the Yemeni ministry of the interior, police on Thursday found the arms in an apartment in the Dars district of the capital. In a police blitz conducted earlier this week, police killed two terror suspects and arrested a third suspect while a fourth escaped.

Somalia: rebel factions unite; Turkey sends warship

Sheikh Sharif Sheik Ahmed, the new president of Somalia's transition government, responded Feb. 5 to the formation of a new alliance of rebel factions, asking the opposition leaders to lay down their arms and join the government. "We are requesting our brothers to work with us in restoring peace and unity," he said, adding that he is willing to open a dialogue with all opponents and would welcome their participation in government.

The new, anti-government Islamic Party is composed of four factions: the hard-line Eritrea-based wing of the Alliance for the Re-liberation of Somalia led by Hassan Dahir Aweys; Harakat Ras Kamboni, a southern Somali Islamist group affiliated with military leader Hassan Turki; the Islamic Front, formed in 2007 to oppose the Ethiopian troop presence in Somalia; and a little-known, clan-based group called Anole.

In a statement announcing the group's formation, spokesman oHassan Mahdi criticized Sheikh Sharif's participation in UN-sponsored talks in Djibouti. The talks paved the way for the withdrawal of Ethiopian troops from Somalia last month and allowed Sheikh Sharif and his opposition party to join the transitional federal government. Mahdi said the Islamic Party was formed to counter moves by Sheikh Sharif to turn Somalia into a secular, pro-Western state. (VOA, Feb. 6)

Turkey into pirate fray
Turkey announced it will deploy a warship as part of the international force to police the Somali coast against pirates. The government has presented to parliament a memorandum to allow Turkey to deploy naval forces in the region. "In the first stage, the plan is to send one warship," said Foreign Minister Ali Babacan. (Reuters, Feb. 6)

The Somali pirates holding a Ukrainian freighter containing tanks and other weapons received at least part of the multi-million-dollar ransom they have been demanding, Kenyan maritime officials announced. But several complications remain to be worked out before the freighter is released, the officials said. (NYT, Feb. 4)"

about 2 months ago, I started a thread on a different forum, basically stating that the sh*t in Yemen was about to hit the fan, and since they were meddling with Saudi affairs, it wouldn't be long before we, (The US) got into the mix.

it was originally titled "ok... with Yemeni rebels locked in daily clashes with Saudi Arabia, and Yemen being the ACTUAL home of Al Q,, why isn't the MSM or the US Gvt. making more noise about it?"

I hadn't really thought of the Israelis working to bring this about, but as they're sworn enemies of every Arab nation in the region, I wouldn't be surprised at finding out that Mossad had something to do with fomenting this violence (or 9/11, for that matter,) I've just never seen really clear evidence making that connection.

I'd love to hear it though - It would work well amongst the members of the anti-AIPAC group that I work with occaisonally.
