ID Card Prints Flawed
Thursday, August 9th, 2007
THOUSANDS of people will be unable to use the new ID cards to prove who they are, an expert has warned. Speaking as the Government publish a report on using biometric data on visas, passports and ID cards, Professor John Daugman has warned the failure rate will be massive. The Cambridge expert said plans to use just fingerprints on the cards to check identities will lead to one in 1000 giving a "false match". It will mean when people try to prove their identities to police or border control staff the details of someone else will flash up on the screen. Shadow home secretary David Davis said: "Gordon Brown pretends ID cards will secure our identities but tens of thousands of people could be falsely accused of not being who they are." http://rinf.com/alt-news/surveillance-big-...nts-flawed/978/ or http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/news/tm_...-name_page.html ~ Veritas Vos Liberabit ~ |
