Zionist minister violates sacred precinct of Al-Aqsa
Quote:Palestinians say Zionist regime Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch's visit to the Al-Aqsa Mosque is a 'provocative' move.

According to a statement issued by the Al-Aqsa Foundation for Heritage on Tuesday, Aharonovitch's visit shows that the Zionist institutions are targeting Al-Aqsa once again, and it asked, "Is this incursion a provocation only or is there something else behind the visit?"

A visit by former Zionist prime minister Ariel Sharon in 2000 sparked the second Palestinian uprising, the Al-Aqsa Intifada.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, is located in the compound in the Old City of al-Quds (Jerusalem) .

Aharonovitch, a member of the ultra-right-wing Israel Beitenu Party, accompanied by Zionist police officials and a large number of guards, had a quick tour of the compound on Tuesday.

Palestinians view the Beitenu Party as a racist political group.

Al Aqsa guards: what could be the meaning behind storming the Mosque except to provoke

Jerusalem / PNN – In a move reminiscent of Ariel Sharon’s in 2000, the Israeli Internal Security Minister today entered the grounds of Al Aqsa Mosque.

Under heavy military and police escort Yitzhak Aharonovitch wandered the courtyards of the Muslim holy site.

A guard at the East Jerusalem mosque said the Israeli minister was accompanied by a number of leaders of the Israeli security forces. Throughout the provocative tour of he grounds he was heard to be explaining the sites.

Guards at Al Aqsa Mosque strongly denounced the entrance of the Israeli Security Minister, declaring it provocative. They added that this visit indicates that the Israeli establishment is once again targeting the Al Aqsa Mosque.

They asked, “What is the meaning of this storming by the Minister and the police except to provoke?! What else could be behind this raid of Al Aqsa Mosque and its facilities?"

The Palestinian Legislative Council condemned the intrusion by the Israeli Internal Security Minister into the courtyards of the mosque, stressing that they will not accept further Israeli violation of holy sites.
