Israeli officials have rejected a plan endorsed at the Arab League offering Israel full diplomatic relations if it withdraws to its 1967 borders allowing for the creation of a Palestinian state and the return of refugees.
Israeli deputy prime minister, Shimon Peres told reporters "There is only one way to overcome our differences, and that is negotiation." Adding "It's impossible to say: 'you must take what we offer you as is.'"
The Saudi foreign minister, Prince Saud al-Faisal said of the Israeli reaction "If Israel refuses, that means it doesn't want peace and it places everything back in the hands of fate.
