I was curious as to where ConCeners get their news from so I found out via a flooding Google with site:concen.org/forum "domain.com" searches and tallying the stats it spit out. I tried some online link checkers but nothing too great cam of it since they didn't check too deep and I didn't want to flood the server with my link tracer client software. Yeti would be able to do this more easily and accurately since he has access to the database and could do a direct select crosstab query on 'url=http://' strings against a site list. They only count outbound links in the form of a raw url and not those linked off of text. Here are the results of the queries in the order they came to mind or I had bookmarked:

Always consider the source, find a different angle or perspective if you can. Not sure where they are coming from - check out their sponsors, shareholders, other news, consider their stance/spin on issues (editorials), the writer and each site's affiliates. This exercise was as much for me as it was for anyone else reading this. Think critically.

Feel free to append or suggest other sites or add any omissions. I'm sure I missed a lot.
Heh, yahoo is my home page. Reading the comments on that site makes me lose hope in humanity =/

Try reading some of the nutters that post comments on infowars stories sometime. Even before I realized they posted anything attention grabbing regardless of how patently disprovable it was, I couldn't send people there because of the crazy patriotard comments.

If you didn't know, they filter the comments and barricade them unexpectedly. I have attempted to post a few times to break through to that crowd but it's futile. Every comment I made (all presenting a different angle to the story that is not as obvious) to date has been banned.

Yeah, all the AJ operations are notoriously anti free expression. His forums pull comments and ban people routinely and the fucker gets people kicked off GCN for saying unapproved things. So that's no surprise.
Nor was I surprised, only had my suspicions confirmed. I have almost completely ignored the site and totally ignored the show after about 2 months of listening to him barking into the mic. There are plenty of other sources to look into. He gets most of his news from other sites anyways.

Any of the other sites that people care to comment on that you see a lot of refs from? RAW Story maybe or perhaps the 598 from the Washington Post, that surprised me, Reuters and Google not so much since but they pump out a lot of news to link to. Also any other notable sites I missed here?

I thought the number from the BBC was surprisingly high. Personally, I like looking at the British and American papers (because I'm not multilingual), a few of the US fringe media sources, and one or two of the conspiracy sites gives me a good best mix of info and viewpoints.

On a side note, it seems to me that Press TV is not given any sort of skepticism by a large percentage of CT. I'm not saying they don't have useful info but I think assuming just because they aren't a "mainstream" "western" media outlet that they should be taken at face value all the time is a mistake.
Presstv.ir gives the anti-american spin they are a different machine spinning for a different audience encouraging anti-jew granted they don't have to dig too deep. They rarely, if ever say anything positive about Jews or Americans. Same goes for AL-Jazeera and Russia Today.

Expanding on the foreign news tip we have these two very MSM factions from their respective geographies. They regularly get front page billing on Google News. Read into that what you may.

Google spit out these results, I'd agree they are all good news hubs, same with much of beforeitsnews but they tend to spit out a lot of stuff without a thorough checked out totally, but they are no gawker or infowars but it's quick to the punch on releases. Slashdot is really good too imo I like checking out Waldo's feed on the http://cybersage.net/ header for the best of them from time to time.

Science Daily site is a heavily filtered aggregator from my experience but releases a few good feeds.

Anyone else want to post their top 5? Or rip into other sources?
I rely on http://www.norml.org/ exclusively. LOL
Here is the one I couldn't think of before

blacklistednews did have infowars until he done the false alarm thing with Charlie Sheen. They dropped them after that.
"same with much of beforeitsnews but they tend to spit out a lot of stuff without a thorough checked out totally"

I guess that is the trade off with being very up to date; but even if it is so ( I personally have no complaint with their site), it is nevertheless useful because one can see what is being released by the press and "thoroughly check it out" as best possible oneself.. as far as the internet allows anyhow.
Alan Watts' website is good for lots of pertinent links to current developments
