Hey kids, welcome to prison.

Quote:You think you just woke up here one day, right? Think again. It was your whole life that brought you to this. Fact is, you were born to be here. Go ahead, look around. I’ll be here when you get back.

Looks smaller than it is, don’t it? Sometimes, it doesn’t even feel all that bad. But still, You look through those bars, and you see all that you’re missing. Hopes. Dreams. What could-have-been. Here, put your palms up to the Black Iron, grab the bars, let me show you something.

Feel that? That’s all the books you’ve read. And that entire wall over there is your adolescence. Look up: It’s your CD collection. The floor you woke up on? Your parents. Like I said, you were born to be here. It’s your life, it’s the cold trap of your own existence. You painted yourself into a corner.

So, now you’re wondering why you feel trapped here, in your own life. Why now, why today, can you see the bars of a Black Iron Prison that you made for yourself? Because you stopped reacting, and took a couple of steps forward. You thought you could do what you wanted, you tried to be self reliant, and bang. You smacked your head against the wall.

What’s that? Yeah. That’s when the claustrophobia sets in. When you didn’t know you were trapped, everything was fine. But now that you know, you can see your entire, tired, monotonous life stretch out before you, trapped in these 4 walls, these 6 sides.

Breathe, kid. It’s just abject panic that you’re feeling right now. Some even say that this is what death feels like: An unchanging life, immune and unfeeling to what you really want.

Look around you. Look at these cold, black bars. The colorless ceiling. The hard ground. That’s your universe. That’s the world you’re going to be living in for the rest of your life here in Prison. You’re going to live out your life in quiet desperation. Or, not so quiet if you decide to take the rife/bell tower route. Either way, long or short, it’ll feel the same. Dead, unchanging.

So, if you’re interested, I’d like to invite you to a jailbreak... Just turn around.

The Black Iron Prison
the extremely short version for slackers and those who need their interest sparked.

1. What you think of as REALITY is a collection of ideas and beliefs about REALITY. Many of the ideas you have about REALITY come from the culture in which you were raised and have accumulated haphazardly over time.

2. This, in itself, is not a problem. The problem is in forgetting point number 1. When you forget point 1, you mistake your ideas about reality for being REALITY itself. Of this, it has been said ‘the menu is not the meal’. Please refrain from eating the menu.

3. People who ‘eat the menu’ frequently become confused and annoyed when other people insist on seeing REALITY in a different way. All that truly differs are their ideas and beliefs about REALITY.

4. Beliefs are just thoughts you keep having.

5. No living being is capable of perceiving all of REALITY, as all senses of perception are limited. Humans can only see, hear, smell, taste and feel within certain parameters. Information entering our senses undergoes compression, filtration, and distortion, before interpretation. Interpretation is what happens when information meets your ‘beliefs’.

6. For no good reason, we call this composite of Belief & Biological Limits THE BLACK IRON PRISON and is a metaphor about existence. It means that there is very little you can do about biology; however, you can choose what becomes part of your beliefs. (Always keeping point 1 in mind).

7. Each person exists within their own, unique BIP ‘cell’. The cell is composed of:

a) Biological limits – these are largely unchangeable.
b) Belief systems – these are highly changeable.

Because of (a) the BIP cell cannot be escaped.
Because of (b) your life experience, your ‘cell’, can be altered drastically. This is what we try to call ‘reconstruction’.

8. A life long commitment to continual reconstruction is known, ironically, as ‘The Jail Break’. Reconstruction is HARD WORK.

9. The collection of beliefs, thoughts, notions etc that form your cell are all equally VALID, though none are TRUE in the sense that they “are” REALITY. However, some beliefs and ideas are more useful than others in specific situations. It is up to the individual to decide which beliefs and ideas they should employ in a given situation.

10. Some people believe that the term BLACK IRON PRISON is dark, bleak, depressing and even frightening. If you prefer, use the term GOLDEN SPHERE of POSSIBILITY (GSP) instead. It means exactly the same thing as BIP and all points still apply.

11. BIP (or GSP) can be a philosophical antidote to dogmatism.

great! nice premise. hip.

the "biological limits" might rapidly be prone to go off kilter in what survives of the technological march and its hold over belief systems.

I'll try and keep this mind for a while. thanks standvast
very true i wasted a year of philosophy class to learn (well i knew but you know) what could have been gleamed from that article, should be required reading, as it does put the experience into a frame any simpleton can understand

great postIcon_biggrin
Icon_biggrin thanks for the responses.

Yes, i agree,
but the biological limits referred to here are each and everyones
very personal biological make-ups ,..
so whether they (limits) will be possibly altered or changed,
everyone will always be "biologically limited" in more than one sense.

The following video approaches merely the limits to human perception
from a certain viewpoint..
i found it quite good being that it is short and understandable to most./
perhaps it can save a few souls from sitting through philosophy classes... Thinking
philosophy in any real sense is a practice, not a static topic "to be informed about" .

I'll throw some more related stuff in this thread some later time.

disclaimer: I haven't read this whole thing, just the post.

It sounds to me like a treatise on Hermeticism, or the creative power of thought. Having studied and worked with Hermetic schools of thought for a while now, I have to say that it is hard work, especially considering that those who have mastered it tend to be occultists or those that subscribe to subservient dogmas like Taoism. Hell they could even be practicing catholics, depending on how clear they are in their intentions, and how they came around to the concepts.

Now those that have mastered occultist ideologies are also the top of the pyramid, and are well versed in how to subconsciously force the direction of your mind's creative power of thought to their ends, and their ends are most certainly not the ends one who would read this here would want. It is possible to rise above, but it's also very easy to think that you're doing that while following a script provided by the ones you so desperately want to counteract. Entering into these realms is truly the only route to personal freedom, but they're also the easiest way to have your abilities usurped by the very people you want to steer clear of.

You have to have a very strong constitution to dwell in this shit-hole prison and work through the beginning stages of this path, and the beginning stages can take years and years, especially considering the programming you have to dodge in order to progress. The world's power structures are built to keep you from your ability to manifest a reality that works for the benefit of yourself in concert with the rest of mankind. It can be frustrating, depressing, even push you to the brink of suicidal ideation, especially when you first start and find yourself on a pink cloud of new abilities that will not sustain itself when you lose faith in your own abilities, and trust me, it will happen.

It's a very matrix/pill like conundrum.

All that being said, I truly believe it is the only way to "jailbreak" so to speak.

I'll have more to say when I read more of this.

Well, as the title page read "a work in motion, by Discordians"
I assumed the like corner of origin to this magestic writ would self clarify , a slight/. Icon_biggrin
Influences on Discordians ,.. that would be a wide spectrum indeed.

Gladly there is no cult of personality , dogmatic tradition, belief to adhere to,
or even a "teacher" to make the grass green besides oneself in this work.
i'd view it to be part honest, part satire, .. it lets you discern which is which.

good, will chat later/

The moments and glimpses of escape are all the more sweeter and mysterious when you mostly exist within "the prison".

@standvast - I know you understand that that ? video is from a certain viewpoint. Did you also notice the hypocracy?

He said the force (as if it is seperate) BUILDS and guides the universe, I would tend to say that all GROWS (maybe that is beside the point). But later he mentions All is one, and if he actually feels that, then there would be no builder or built.

All I believe is what I see, and the only things I see being built are what man takes from the growth and assembles.
Sometimes man gets mixed up in thinking s/he is a creator/force. And in that confusion s/he believes that there is an ultimate creator/force that builds "man" and the "universe".
The image my eye sees through a tool is not what my eye sees without it.
That's why if I desired guidance, I would forget about Kabbalah and seek it amongst the growing.

The ending of the video seems to hold an apparent mechanistic view of life, showing a backdrop of geometry and calculation symbols coupled with a kabbalah advertisement... as if to imply that the kabbalah way is the ultimate way to a universal-truth-like-experience... it doesn't mention, credit, or seem to have faith in all the other possible ways. Which is fine... I'm just pointing that out.

Thinking creates the barriers to our senses. So if you seek an ultimate-truth-like-experience, kabbalah or any theory that takes you inside your mind actually prevents the experience and keeps the senses closed in thought in that moment... or so a bird once showed me.
